Hi There!

Have any of you replaced the dialler that comes with Lollipop with another dialler? I have an issue where there is a hold button which my ear keeps touching in the top right, which is annoying the hell out of me.

So I would like:

Swiping to call/message
No buttons top right.

Stable, easy to use and well supported.

Any ideas?

The screen shouldnt be active to touch when you are on a call and its by your ear tho? Certainly the case on all the phones I have.

For some reason my S6 proximity sensor doesn't ALWAYS activate. It's possible "I'm holding it wrong", but this is the same way I've held every phone for the past 10+ years.

I think it's unlikely getting it technically assessed would result in a fix, and I can't really be without it, so a new dialler is an easier solution.

Personally I'd say take the phone back under warranty as it sounds like an obvious hardware issue with the proximity sensor. Will be a continual PITA otherwise. Changing the dialler will likely just change the nature of the pain depending on what buttons you hit with your ear/cheek.

Just to check the obvious - you don't have a case or skin blocking the proximity sensor...?

Is there a screen protector covering the sensor, if so cut off the bit that is over the sensor,

also try.... Dial *#0*# and check the sensors. Pick "Sensor" Hover your hand around proximity sensor and see how it responds, it will go green with a loud beep.

If it is defective, take it back to be replaced with a new phone.

You must have a TV phone. All phones I see on TV have their screens on while talking ..

Hmm interesting. Sensor seems ok, but it doesnt always seem to blank the screen (Dialler) in a call.

Joking aside though. Likely a combination of the way you are holding phone to ear and shape / style of your ear + head causing the proximity sensor to not activate always. Or as suggested, maybe a fault.

Pretty sure it's not a sensor issue as such. The test was pretty conclusive. It probably is the way I am holding it.

I just checked my s5 and the sensor is on the opposite side which explains it as I tend to tilt the phone slightly when I hold it, so the sensor is deactivating the screen block. Annoying.
