I need to send my Xperia in for warranty repair and want it not to have any personal data on when I do.

I know how to reset an iPhone, but not too sure with the Android ecosystem. If I do what is described as a "factory reset" will that scrub personal data from the phone?

Likely too late, but make sure you log out of your Google account before factory resetting, else the repair centre won't be able to start the device up to check everything's working correctly thanks to the factory reset protection (think iCloud lock).

I don't think I have ever done that. Seems familiar though, maybe it prompts you about it during the process??

I do not recall whether it did prompt me or not. I didn't do it as a seperate action though. The phone appeared to behave as a fresh handset when I checked it.

The screen developed strange red/pink 'clouds' which were visible when the screen colour was dark or black, so it has gone off for warranty repair.

I'll be selling it when I get it back, if anyone wants one!

I have a perfectly fine S7, but I miss my old Sony Xperia. Am waiting patiently for Sony to reduce bezels before I buy new (and it sounds like their next flagship will be an 'all new' design), but could think about a interim play thing ...
