Hi Geekzoners,

My wife and MIL both have Samsungs, and they're both reporting their Vaccine pass shortcuts on their home screens are being removed periodically and need to be reinstated.

A workaround I've found is to place the shortcut into a folder. Or simply adding a shortcut to a picture of your QR code.

Anyone else found this and found a solution please?

It happened on my Samsung last week, so following with interest.

Yup, has been happening all over the place. has happened to me 2x now, inc the actual pass going missing from Google Pay - then it magically reappeared the next day.

Mentioned and discussed many times in the main Vaccine Pass thread.

My latest attempt to overcome this was to move the created shortcut into a folder on the home screen, then go back into Google Pay and add the shortcut again. The second shortcut has since vanished from the home screen, but the shortcut in the folder is (so far) still there

Or just screenshot the pass and then put a link to the subsequent image file on your home screen. That’s so much simpler than farting around with Google Pay.

I have not had this issue on my Poco F3 however I will knock on wood to prevent being jinxed.

Some establishments have apparently turned away screenshots. Keep in mind you may need to open Google Pay and show the actual pass. Not sure there'd be too many places that would take the time to look that closely, though!

My wife's Galaxy S10+ was doing this. I gave her @Dingbatt advice and she has been good since and has not had any issue with it being accepted. My Galaxy S20FE has it in Google Pay but with no Home screen short cut, I like a clean Home and all is good. No issues so far except I cant get it to show up on my Samsung Galaxy 4 Watch in Google Pay

Also disspaearing here on S10+ I have a screenshot instead.
No issues with it not being accepted and happy to go into Google wallet if needed.

Added mine to the AirNZ app as well yesterday, very easy and actually needed the screenshot to upload.

The little things make the biggest difference.

Well traversed in another thread but clearly an Android (10?) issue as my Nokia 6.1 has done it a few times. Amazingly at the moment having just masked up, scanned in and have a person holding their POS system (i.e. iPad) up at me to scan my pass that has disappeared.

All Samsungs users I have seen with this issue didnt have Google Pay actually installed or configured, after installing Google Pay and readding the pass to Google Pay it's fine. Much easier than worrying about shortcuts and screenshots of the pass.

In response to some comments above:

I've been using Google Pay for years, and it has to be set up properly for contactless payments, yet I still have the vanishing shortcut issue, so it's not that.

Also not isolated to Android 10, as our phones here are all running Android 11.

Also not isolated to Samsung, as it's happening on Nokia devices (as mentioned above).

It has also been suggested that it relates to the Smart Lock feature, yet we don't use it and the issue still exists.

Zero issues here on my Pixel 4a with Nova Launcher, on Android 12, been using the My Vaccine Pass shortcut since day 1. Although I did move the shortcut into a folder on my dock, if it makes any difference.

If anyone's having issues I'd recommend trying out Nova Launcher and see if it makes a difference?

If it's on Nokia and Samsung, I doubt it's the launcher.

So far having the shortcut in a folder seems to work, regardless of the launcher in use. The problem seems to occur if the shortcut is directly on a home screen.

No issues on a Samsung S10+ or A70, both running Nova Launcher.

The shortcut is on the second home screen, not primary.
