I have tried various codes starting with **61 to try and extend the ring time on my Oppo A16S phone. None work. I get a message saying invalid MMI

I am with Spark, should I contact them?

Alternatively is there an App available on Google play which i could download to increase the ring time. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think that it can be set by the provider (Spark in your case).

How long before it goes to messages?

I found this on google (the AI summary result in front of my search) :

The number of rings before voicemail on Spark mobile can be set between 0 and 9. How to change the number of rings

Call voicemail
Select 3 for personal options
Select 3 for message waiting notifications, ringing options, or call forward options
Select 5 to choose the number of rings
Enter the number of rings between 0 and 9, or press #
Follow the voice prompts

There is this thread from a few years back too. Maybe turning off voicemail extends the time....

Hi, Thanks for your advice. I phoned Spark, and they changed my ring time to their maximum which is 25 seconds. I'll be changing to a different Provider.

25 seconds is a pretty long time. Especially considering if you miss the call you can see who called you and ring straight back

back in Telecom days it was up to 40 secs and provider set it for you

You can also buy quite cheap andorid based smart watched that can make and receive calls without having to rush to find your phone

Remove the OCCF to VM and it is 40 seconds but you will need to request SparkNZ to remove it

Further to this if SparkNZ can set it to 25 seconds then they can do 30 seconds that makes no sense

@fifi981 They would need to remove VM full (OCCF) for 40 seconds paging time 30 seconds keeping the VM

FYI ringing time the correct name is paging time and not related to the make / model of handset it is all network controlled

I think that the suggestion about a smart watch that enables you to pick up and make calls may be a better investment for you.

The watch connects to your phone with bluetooth and this is what they say on the Xiaomi site about Bluetooth range:

The Bluetooth connection status between the Redmi Watch 5 Active and a mobile phone can be affected by the surrounding environment. With obstacles in between, the Bluetooth connection will automatically disconnect when the distance between the watch and the phone reaches 5-8 meters. As someone with a hearing aid, I can answer incoming calls on my phone via my hearing aid, when I am upstairs and my phone is directly downstairs.

That works with just the floor in between. If I move further away it starts to cut out with a couple of walls.

No luck at Spark. 25 seconds is the maximum time before the call goes to voicemail.

Thanks for the smart watch info. This sounds like a great option, and should suit me well.

As a side note - thanks for recommending this! I had been wondering about smart watches for a while, and $71 is a great price to try out one. Have had it for a few days and so far I like it.
