Never thought it'd happen to me but my HTC Desire's USB port is buggered. Now I cannot have data connectivity and charging is intermittent .

Has anyone had any experience sending their units back to Clove for warranty repairs? Are they fairly quick? I rang Telegistics in Auckland but they apparently only repair HTC units purchased in New Zealand. Does anyone know if there are other outfits in NZ who do warranty repairs on phones purchased overseas?

I returned the first Galaxy S I got last year. I was confident it was buggered out of the box, so I simply purchased another to expedite getting my hands back on my shiny new toy. I received the new one, working fine, and shortly after got refunded the other one. Since the refund happened quite close in time to me sending it back, I presume it wouldn't have taken too long to get a replacement if I hadn't just paid for one.

I'm hoping it won't be a replacement - all the new HTC Desire units have SLCD screens these days. Hopefully they can just fix it...

Oh, of course you're right. I would be very unhappy to have a non-AMOLED one returned to me! Surely it can't be too bad to just replace an USB port though right?

Well, you can't quite tell these days. I had an HTC Touch Cruise once with a broken mSDHC card slot - they replaced the main board! I guess that was probably easier if the card holder was soldered on... not sure...

Still, I'm amazed there are no HTC repairers in NZ who can and will repair imported phones under warranty.

I just posted my desire back to clove this morning, it has a faulty internal speaker. I'll let you know how it pans out.........gonna be a tough few weeks!

I took for granted how much I use the Desire until I've lost it :( I haven't sent it yet since NZ Post said you need a physical address to send it to - not a PO Box. Have you got a physical address for Clove? I was also told I had to pack the battery out of the phone, and also send it with the more expensive option ($63 or something like that). Is that what you had to do too?

My product is faulty, what can I do?

If you feel that your product is not functioning correctly please follow these procedures:

1.If available take a look at the manual, read and act upon any of the help/troubleshooting tips provided.

2.Contact the manufacturer directly to discuss the problem and take note of their advice. If this does not work book it in for return with them. If it can not be booked in directly go to the next step.

3.Contact Clove Technology by phone or email or log an online return and we will provide assistance on the fault and if necessary arrange a returns authorisation.

No problem with the PO box address, it cost $44 by international track and trace expected to take 4-6 days. Yes I had to remove the battery but was OK in the same package. Funny how you get different rules depending on which post shop you go to, I've come across this beofre...

Clove were good, I just emailed them, told them the problem and they got straight back. I think from them it goes to HTC UK to be repaired so I'm not holding my breath for a quick turnaround.

Funny you should say that - the lady in the ChCh Postshop I went to certainly lacked customer service skills! I will go to the local Postshop in my own small town and see the friendly ladies there. I usually get good service since one of them was born in the house I now live in :)
