Hi all...haven't been on here for a minute, but just wanted to share my pleasing experience in store at my local 2D retailer.

After holding my S20+ for about 3 years - the longest I had held a single phone - I thought it was about time for an upgrade. My 20+ was a great phone, really didnt feel the need to upgrade for the longest time...it was only really battery life getting me annoyed. So searched around for S23 deals.

In any case, saw that 2D had a deal for trading in an old phone and getting a boost. So went in store for a chat. I was under the impression that with their trade program, you purchase the new phone, send away your old phone for assessment and then you are credited your 2D account. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I was told that I could trade the phone in, in-store, and the value was deducted from retail price of phone - no account credit. Great. My S20+ trade in value was only $261, but they were offering a boost of $600 - so getting $861 off the value of the S23 was a great deal. Note, my S20+ was in excellent condition for the age - had been in a dbrand grip case its whole life, and i'd never dropped it.  Definitely wouldnt have traded it, if I was only offered $261 mind you!

Ended up going for the S23 ultra - 256GB Green. Bloody expensive phone, but felt a little better once it was discounted by $861! Paying it off over 36 months.

Initial thoughts after 24 hours...(i know a lot can and will change), but the battery is a beast compared with my S20+.
It is bloody heavy!
Camera's compared with previous phone are a massive upgrade across the board. The quality of the 10x zoomed pics are fantastic. Cant wait to play around with Expert RAW and shoot some astrophotography this weekend.

If anyone is considering the 2D trade deal and had some reservations...I can definitely say it was easier than I had anticipated.

S23 Ultra green 256GB charging beside my desk. Didn't really feel it was a great value upgrade but.... FOMO.

I'd quite like to consider moving away from Samsung but as long as they are the only people with a garaged pen, I doubt I will. I don't use it a lot, but enough I wouldn't want to be without it, plus the Samsung Eco system is just so familiar.

That is a good deal.  I have had to send mine away for an account credit.  Keep in mind that I got almos the same money for trading in iphone 8.  Always trade in the oldest thing you have that qualifies for the boost.

Can anybody else confirm this? I've heard horror stories about trade-in phones being sent for evaluation but getting a bad grade/low value - always gathered that the evaluators do some funny business.

If they accept it in-store with an immediate deduction, I'd probably get an Ultra tomorrow.

I can confirm it, as I have the phone in my hand. Its not anecdotal or hearsay...if they did it at my store in Hamilton I can't imagine it would be different elsewhere.

Retail assistant did some brief checks. No scratches. Does it power on/off. Checked screen burn in etc. Given they only offered $261 for the phone, don't think they were that concerned given it's age. The $600 boost is just the on top bonus for any qualifying phone.

Call your local store and ask directly would be my recommendation.

I might look into this. Main stumbling block with a trade is migrating all the iffy A Series stuff and various authenticators before I commit.

Has anyone experienced the S23U WiFi issue outlined here?

Issue is when the phone is connected to WiFi, it gets no internet. It appears to only affect S23U that are connected to a WiFi 6 router, no issue connecting to a WiFi 5 router.

I personally haven't experienced this issue.

No issues experienced here but I think it may be because I haven't connected to WiFi 6.

Some but I still need to troubleshoot some more before I point fingers at the S23 Ultra or my AP.
