58% battery left

30 hours uptime

display 70% at 1hr50mins on
voice calls 8% at 20min
wifi 3% at 1hr40mins (wifi-sleep on screen off - i left wifi on all night by accident so it seems to only log wifi-connected minutes, which is good)
+lots of browsing trademe and herald and stuff.co.nz and engadget as usual, and about 30 texts or so

BatterySnap seems to think it will go another 29hours. its usually 8+ hours too optimistic, but even at say 21hours remaining thats again knocking on 50hours uptime. but, this is hardly any use of the phone doing media intensive stuff like music/podcast playback or video.

anyone know if we can get the 1600maH mugen battery here in NZ?

:( I feel cheated

I think you can probably import a mugen battery from Ebay, 1600mah isn't much bigger though. You can buy extended batteries that have a fatter back.

lokhor: That's not bad considering your screen on time. Have you tried using JuiceDefender to schedule data on/off?

Here's my latest stats:
74% after 5h3m
Display 90% with time on 32m46s
Cell Standby 6%
Phone idle 3%

I did download a podcast on BeyondPod using WiFi and listened to it on the way to work as well.

No I haven't tried JuiceDefender, I have been using APNdroid, to toggle data on/off, will give JuiceDefender a go.

phone just died from the same session posted above

54hrs 48mins uptime

1% battery lol

display 75% at 4hrs14mins on (locked at 20% brightness)
wifi 2hrs 55mins connected
voice calls 26mins
some other stuff cant remember before it died

about an hour of angry birds and wifi browsing last nite took me from 22% to 15% last nite, this morning was about 10%, and has finally carked it now.

its strangely disheartening to see the battery drop to 90% or less within hours of unplugging it in the morning after doing nothing.... but then the fact that it goes on to linger for so long is crazy... and also annoying. its like somethings not calibrated right.

anyway thats pretty good for sipping power and still being usable, next test i will leave 3g and background data on all the time, maybe a sync once or twice a day and see how fast it dies then

thats impressive!!
sinde the 2.29.405 update I'm certain my Desire has improved battery use a lot!
Yesterday I used a lot of mobile data, 4 hours of GPS and texting resulting in 54mins of screen time and after 16 hours it was at 47 %

Update since shifting to the 2.2.1 ROM. And a slick wee beastie it is.

So far it's going great.

Uptime in total, 30:42:35 (and some seconds while posting this)
Screen time, 03:26:43
Charge remaining, 53%
WiFi total time, 05:59:03
Calls, 06:46
Radio consumption, 05%

Settings as for my previous post. Only difference is that I used GPS less, and 3G data more.

The battery conditioning doesn't appear to have done any harm. Maybe even helped, but time will tell.

Froyo 2.2.1 seems to be good for me, at least.

And did I mention slick?

Cheers,

thats stunning for that amount of screen uptime

im starting to think about lagfixing my phone, im keen to stick with touchwiz, and just root it, but im confused with whats available for telecom 850mhz versions... the firmwares for regular i9000's wont work, am i right?

AFAIA, the lagfixes aren't affected by radio bands, so the OCLF ext2 solution should work fine. Root is required of course, but that can be done via SuperOneClick.

I can't guarantee you won't have issues, but in the end, almost all hacks will have issues. Is the end benefit worth the risk? Right now I'd have to deliver a resounding "yes". JPU from Samfirmware is a seriously great ROM for me and my international phone. It was a risk, and I've re-flashed then fixed things that were broken by the flash, but I'd bet you'd be impressed by my SGS.

Your experience might well be unlike mine though. It's up to you what you'll risk for an exceptional experience. Read heaps and pray to whatever deity you favour, and you just might be lucky.

Just remember that not all lagfixes require CLI stuff and ADB fluency, but you may get better results getting your feet wet in the esoterica of linux commands and/or .pit files and such. Whichever road you choose, check out the big Galaxy S thread - it has much useful advice and many good links. And most of the good stuff is in the last 100 pages.

Cheers,

Just for you Lokhor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722862

Your numerous flashing would explain the above. Your battery might not be faulty after all, just displaying incorrect values. :>

Lordy there's a buch of whiney, entitlement seeking dipsticks in that thread, The OP's instructions are clear, and if the readers don't get it, it suggests the IQ's over there are modest, to say the least.

You could likely delete that stat .bin file with Root Explorer without getting your hands dirty with Linux-y CLI shennanegins. Oh well. Makes me realise that the peeps here are somewhat smarter than the average netizen.

Display 83% (time on 4h 47m)
Wifi 3% (6hr 35m)
Wifi on 40% (15h 41m)

It appears that the battery life has improved running Froyo,

Morocco your battery life sounds similar to mine but maybe a little better. 2hrs14mins of calling is quite hefty which would explain the drain.
