Next question. What calendars are people using? Since HTC Sync Manager won't work on my laptop I've gone to using Windows Live and syncing Outlook on my laptop and the phone with Windows Live.

However the HTC only seems to sync with the Windows Live calendar when you make an new entry on the phone calendar. If you make a change on the laptop the change will not appear on the HTC until you edit or add an appointment on the phone. I have other mobile devices that are syncing and both ways quite happily. How do you get the HTC to sync without having to make an entry on the phone first. I am unable to find setting to get the HTC to sync otherwise.

Any ideas?

bradstewart: It's the 4x1 weather clock. I installed a transparent version of the stock one.

You can also do this (transparent clock and weather widget) using the Fancy Widgets app.

Downloaded this widget last night as I couldnt get that stock one to work as I didnt have a cable on me to transfer it too, will try again today.

Which widget did you use? There are only about 6 clock widgets and none of them are like the stock one, though I have come to a reasonable compromise.

(Hopefully my image works this time and isnt massive) (fingers crossed for BBCode noob)

Technofreak: What browsers are being used by HTC One owners? Chrome seems to be quite good however I've used Opera for many years and are using that as my default browser I've seen others on here mention Dolphin, I installed it but found it to be very jerky on some sites, and haven't been all that impressed so far.

You might like to have a look at Boat Browser - I think it's quite new but not sure about that. I heard of it last week and starting using it to replace Dolphin, which I liked and had used for years. I like Boat even more.

EDIT: Had a look and obviously it's not new. Was just new to me.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Boat browser is awesome. Light and very fast. Dolphin Browser served me well for a year or so but it's become quite laggy.

I'm using the stock browser. Nice and fast for Geekzone and the few sites I read on my mobile. I refuse to use chrome.

This is the first time I've tried chrome on a mobile device, ut's my browser of choice on my laptop, since some sites I use don't accommodate Opera.

The stock browser looks pretty good certainly better than chrome. One feature I look for is text re-flowing which chrome doesn't appear to do. I don't rate the "Labs" option on the stock browser the action to bring up the menu by swiping from the right is too finicky in my opinion.

I haven't had time to try out the boat browser yet and for the time being I still favour Opera.

So I went and had a look/play at the HTC One instore at lunchtime. I don't know exactly what I expected but I'm kinda underwhelmed. I think its mainly because phones have reached a level whereby new iterations aren't significantly better than the older ones they are replacing..

I was of the same mind as you, and if I couldn't have got a good deal, I wasn't going to upgrade from my One X. I did get what I consider a good deal though, and now when I sit the One X and the One side by side I am happy with the decision. The screen is awesome (even better than the One X and that's saying something)and I like the boomsound speakers because now I can actually hear my phone ring, which wasn't always the case with the One X. I am yet to properly configure the IR blaster but am sure it will be of use. That they have moved the mini-usb slot back to the bottom is also a plus because now the phone sits happily on its side in 'Car' mode with the charger connected.
On the downside I hate that there is no 'recent apps/menu' button anymore as it has re-introduced the dreaded '3 dot menu bar' in some apps.
In Blinkfeed the only things I had active were Techcrunch and Engadget, so no great loss there either.

In Blinkfeed the only things I had active were Techcrunch and Engadget, so no great loss there either.

Double tap the home button for recents. A fix for the menu bar for some apps is coming with the 4.2.2 update.

yep, it takes considerably longer time to go from 99 to 100.
Wonder why.

yep, it takes considerably longer time to go from 99 to 100.
Wonder why.

It's to do with the measures Qualcomm and HTC took to ensure battery longevity since we can't easily replace it. There was a good technical explanation of it all I read a while back, will see if I can dig it up.

Yep, aware of the double tap for recents. What would be good is the option to long press the home button to bring up a menu, similar to the options in settings on the One X. That got rid of the 3-dot menu on the One X. I know it has more to do with developers not following Google guidelines, but it is frustrating to have beautiful full hd screen real-estate used up by an ugly black bar.
Be interesting to see how far off HTC's version of 4.2.2 is. And then how long to be pushed to our handsets. I am happy to not be on the 'bleeding edge' of new firmware. I prefer letting the owners of X.XX.401.X firmware in Europe beta test it for about a month first.
