Kalaren: Next I'll play around with network modes but before I bother does anyone know if its worth setting it to one network mode only (Live in Auckland and am on Vodafone so reception should mostly be fine on the faster one). I'm not on an LTE plan so I can have it on GSM or WCDMA only if I want to. I'm

Don't do it if you are on Vodafone on 2Degrees. The 3G coverage is not the same as the 2G coverage. Also network coverage changes over time due to number of active users on any cell site.

Locking into one or another will only reduce the coverage you have, overall.

This doesn't happen on Telecom because the entire network is 3G.

Anyone know how to disable facebook photos showing up in the Gallery app.
I've gone to setting-account&sync and unchecked everything under Facebook but photos still remain in the gallery.
any ideas?

How do I select multiple pictures/videos from to gallery to either delete, send via Bluetooth etc. I sent 9 pictures today from my phone to my laptop through Bluetooth and had to do each 1 by 1.

No idea in the stock gallery, I always install Quickpic on my 'Droids and it's easy in that app.

Clicking the bottom share or delete buttons in the gallery will allow you to then multi select.

I.e Share > No Thanks to HTC share popup > Bluetooth > Multi-select.

Same principle applies to multiple delete.

Yea, seems like that's the only way.
Don't know why HTC felt so strongly to incorporate Facebook into the Gallery app.

Probably following steps from Microsoft who also incorporate Facebook pictures into the Photos Hub and People Hub.

Which manufacturer did Facebook get to build their Facebook phone again?

Bit of an 'egg on face' moment for HTC though, considering the miserable failure that the 'Home' has proved to be.

Edit: My Nillkin flip cover has arrived for my One ($15 ebay from HK). I can take it out in public now that it is suitably protected.

Can you still see the notification light through the holes for the speaker slot?

Dingbatt: Has anyone on either the One or the S4 had a look at 'Smart IR Remote for HTC One' (or S4) in the Play Store?

When I looked the HTC One version only had 100+ downloads but all favourable comments. $US10 is maybe a little steep for a punt, but it looks promising compared to the stock (Peel) app.

Since no-one else took the bait, I took a punt and bought "Smart IR Remote for HTC One" from the Play Store. So far I am very impressed. Set up is straight forward and I was able to find most of my equipment in their lists. It has macros and configurable remote layouts. Though the layout option is very new and still needs a bit of work. Not quite as easy to use as my Harmony remote, but then I can't talk, text, web surf or check emails on my Harmony. It is good if I just want to change volume or channel and the proper remote is not to hand.

To follow on from what Brad posted.

I disabled the HTC share pop up.

Open Gallery, Choose the album (i.e. camera shots) Choose Share, Chhose share method (i.e. Bluetooth), a black box appears in the lower right corner of each thumbnail, tap the boxes of all the pictures you wish to share then choose next and keep going from there.

Technofreak: How does one stop apps from automatically updating.  I have one app that the updated version isn't as good as the old version. I've uninstalled it only to have it reinstall automatically as an update.  Most frustrating.

It's in the play store settings

Yep, I finally looked looked there after not being able to find anything on the phone.
