timmmay: I get random reboots on 4.2.2 stock.

I am not on stock, but I get them as well, as well as the screen dying which requires a reboot.

tanivula: I think pretty much all the tw 4.4 custom ROMs will work with the old bootloader. Think the only issues with running the old bootloader is not being able to charge while the phone is turned off.

I have run echo and goldeneye. I prefer goldeneye due to its more stock approach to be honest. Couple that with ktoonz kernel with some tweaks, it's not too hard to get 4hrs+ screen on time.

Thanks Tanivula i wasn't aware any had changed, I see a couple i checked are are to use old bootloader without losing wifi etc but see Omega still needs new bootloader which is strange. I may try Echoe again as it was a good Rom.

jeffnz:
Bacha: hows everyone roms going? Anyone decided to try different rom? Being on Shostock rom for a while now with the old bootloader and its being smooth installed adams kernel recently battery life has been good but sometimes its worse, I am pretty sure its the apps most of the times.

I'm on the same Bacha and battery life hasn't been better to be honest. I'm itching to flash something else but everything is working fine and not interested in upgrading bootloader and tripping knox if I don't have to.

Try Greenify if you don't already have it and hibernate the likes of Facebook and others that keep the phone from going to deep sleep.

I agree with you! everything is perfect except for the battery life! I wanna flash something else as well. But without triggering knox..

Sweet will install that today thanks.

Quick update... offline charging is fixed. Go the community!
So the only bug for me with TW 4.4 is lack of GLONASS 'connectivity' - all the apps can see the GLONASS sats, but never lock on them.

Does anyone know when 2D is going to roll out 4.4? Also will my phone be able to update automatically? I reflashed my Telecom phone to get rid of the their bloatware apps and replaced it with the 2D software and I'm not sure if I will need to reflash my phone with a 2D 4.4 build to update or if it can update on its own.

Please note that Samsung Korea pushes out the update not Vodafone New Zealand, Once approved it can take a number of weeks before you will see the update on the handset

Chaps, does GLONASS work with the 4.4.2 firmware Voda has approved.  If you've still got it, can you please test it!  It seems to be broken in all the 4.4.2 TW roms on the i9505 to date.

Unfortunately I don't have access to the test builds myself (Nor do I own an S4 - Note loyalist) so will be a case of wait & see. If it's a no-go when it rolls out, we can pass the feedback to Samsung. :)

Has anyone found a solution random freezing? For example I was just using facebook, it froze for 20 seconds or so, unresponsive to touch, front button, but responsive to the power button. The background VPN/Pandora radio kept working, and it came back.

Is it hardware or software? Do other ROMs have the same problem?

Incidentally and perhaps related, I hear TouchWiz is better on the S5. Has it been back ported? Anyone tried it?

Personally I think touchwiz on the S5 looks awful. They have managed to make it look even more childish and the settings menu layout is terrible (what was wrong with the previous layout?).

That said, the available storage space is around 11gb so they have obviously removed a lot of bloatware compared to the S4 rom, so it will probably run a bit better. I haven't used an S5 extensively yet though.

There are several different view options in the S5's settings menu, including the tabbed view of the Note 3 & S4, so it isn't too much of a learning curve.

The colouring is still different (as well as the order of some of them). So the ability to quickly identify options through visual memory of the icon size/shape/colour is gone. Also the colours make it look way more like some kids tablet.

Might seem trivial to some but it bothers me. I'm sure if I used one regularly I would get used to it but complain complain noise noise mumble
