Dingbatt: Until Queens Birthday Weekend sales maybe?

Should be able to score $899 - 20% over Queen's Birthday, which would make it a real bargain at $720.

Yes I'll be interested to see if the 20% is off the RRP or their current list price ($899), which is after all a promotional price. When will they start promoting holiday weekend deals, tomorrow or Friday?

My $5 covers arrived from China today. I can see why they are a third of the price of the Nillkin one I got last week. The back of them is clear so showing off the beautiful aluminium bodywork, but the screen cover doesn't feel as sturdy or well fitting.

I have ordered this online, which should do away with screen protectors on my One but they are not cheap though.

Dingbatt: Which Smart Cover App in particular? There are 9. Half free and the rest up to $2.25.

It's called "Smart Cover", by THINKINGIDEA.  It's also a great app for waking your phone without needing to press the power button, just tap your finger on the prox sensor.

Thanks for the clarification. It would seem that the proximity sensor has to be powered all the time. Have you noticed any marked affect on the battery life?

It doesn't look like Smart Cover is draining the battery very much.  I got 23 hours out of my battery yesterday, and the Smart Cover app was running for 10hrs.  Very happy with it.

Overheard a Noel Leeming ad this afternoon, 20% off the big brands.. not sure HTC would fall under that.. No sign of it on their website yet anyway. Although they were still only advertising pre-orders for the S4 about 4 days after release..

It'll most likely fall under Telecom XT. That's normally the case. So you should be able to score one at 20% off = $720 = a real steal!

If I am not wrong, the current $899 is a special price only to 30th May (look on their mailer).
So I think its 20% off at $999 so its $800.
Having said that if they did 20% off at $899 that would be a steal!!

My work is about to support BYOD and was looking at one of these and finally trashing my bberry ( slowly torturing it first ). Currently we are VF but can I buy the XT ver and just swap over my SIM and rock on ? ( have do a swap onto a micro first )

And for 4G support how will that work when XT switches on later in year as I'll be on VF, how does update get to handset ?

Telecom device will work fine on VF. Also no need for a software update for LTE, it works now with a VF sim.

Ahh, sneaky NL. They've put 20% off the RRP rather than the price they had it for yesterday ($899). Still presents a good price at $799 though.

I bought the HTC One last week from Warehouse Stationary in East Tamiki for $854 (They price matched minus the 5% from Noel Leeming price of $899).

I just called them and told about the $799 price that noel leeming is selling for, and they are happy to refund me the difference.

Very happy with their customer service :) Thumbs up !!

Glad you have had good experience with them

I gave them my HTC One last week Friday hoping I would get a new one back in a couple of days.

Here I am still waiting for my 1k phone that had a well publicised and well talked about fault - the Gap issue.

I have been calling them everyday this week asking for an update. The lady on the phone is quite nice but she said the phone is with HTC and they are now waiting to hear back from them if I can get a new phone or not..

I am in half mind to just go and get a new one for 800 bucks from Noel Leeming (or Warehouse Stationery with their price match) and just sell the one they give me

Umm .. makes me think now, I should probably get the "No Worries warranty" for my phone using the refund I am going to get which extends the warranty for another 2 years (total 3 years). I have read somewhere that it covers batteries as well.

anyone asks me if they should get extended warranty, i usually just say no. Warranty is where the companies make their money back..

do you expect to keep this phone for more than 2 years? if you do, it might be worth it for you to spend an extra 80 bucks to get the warranty so you can have peace of mind. also makes the resale value of the phone higher as well

Can someone please enlighten me on the differences between a "Telecom XT" HTC One vs. an unlocked HTC One. Are the hardware/radios the same or does Telecom only apply their branding on the software on their version?
