Damager: I've been on Echoe for some time now but that Sammy Delux looks good. I'm on the new bootloader, so straight Odin flash and done?

Also, my mate sent me some screen shots from his S4, which was bought from vodafone but has a Telecom sim.

His screenshots all show the LTE icon. What connection speed pushes it past 4G??

May pay to check on new bootloader as the Kernel has the knox fix to work on old one. No you can't flash using Odin only CWM.

On telecom stock rom it says 4g, I assume vodafone would too. He should dial *#1234# and see if the CSC is VNZ

how do you flash samy delux rom on the old bootloader? you just flash the file rom the usual way or there is something you need to do? Just wanted to double check before I flash it. I am on shostock rom as well with the old bootloader

I'm using TWRP and they suggest Philz or latest CWM recovery but seems fine. I did a full wipe and flashed the earlier delux one (as per instruction) then flashed the latest Rom and its all good.

I couldnt flash the second one for some reason it was stuck on samsung logo. Flashed TWRP and it was all sorted. Rom is really smooth -liking it so far.

Ive noticed a problem with non samsung roms, For example the latest cyanogenmod for jflte (all snapdragon s4's)

It doesnt show charging progress when the device is off while you are charging it, Instead it just shows this

And wont go to anything else. When its like that you also cant turn the phone on by pressing the power button. You have to either unplug it and then turn it on or enter recovery and choose reboot system now.

I think this is because it lacks the charging QMG files that samsung roms have and the google edition S4 rom has.

Im also on the new bootloader, Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Its a bit annoying

Chaps, does GLONASS work with the 4.4.2 firmware Voda has approved. If you've still got it, can you please test it! It seems to be broken in all the 4.4.2 TW roms on the i9505 to date.

Unfortunately I don't have access to the test builds myself (Nor do I own an S4 - Note loyalist) so will be a case of wait & see. If it's a no-go when it rolls out, we can pass the feedback to Samsung. :)

Seems this is still broke... Can you guys pass some feedback back to Samsung?

Looks like my GLONASS issues are going to be sorted soon. There's a new firmware out (XXUGNE5) which according to some German forums have solved the issue!

Downside is that early reports say another workaround is required to use this with the old bootloader.... so hopefully kernel sources come out soon (not that these seem to help much sometimes) and/or someone figures out what needs to be modified in build.prop files etc.

This release has quite a high change list number so hopefully it's a good one! I've been seriously considering going back to 4.3 for better gps (my tracks use).

So it seems needing another kernel workaround for XXUGNE5 was an urban legend - I'm still on the pre-knox 4.2.2 bootloader.

New version is pretty good, I'm running iB4STiD's GoldenEye V32, can confirm GLONASS is working great (hopefully the Russians don't turn it off!)

How do I configure the phone to ring at normal volume if it's face down? My wife has it in her pocket and it doesn't ring properly.

There are a couple of things you can check:

Settings>My Device>Call

Increase Volume in Pocket

And:

Settings>My Device>Motions and Gestures>Motion>Mute/Pause

And ofcourse make sure the volume is turned up

With Echoe's demise (dev toy throw due to inability to read minds and keep all the demanding plebs happy) I now need to find a new rom. Not really looking forward to trawling through XDA looking for another to get my flashing fix, but there's not really much I can do about that.

Does anyone have suggestions for actively maintained, clean and stable TW roms with minimal added BS?
(Yes, this time I'm being lazy and asking before succumbing to the inevitable XDA suffering...)

I've been using wanamlite for a while now, definitely recommended if you're after a stock based rom. Also compatible with the old pre-knox bootloader.

Agree with WanamLite, it's basically stock with some optimisations. The only thing that doesn't work is the Llama tone picker.

Also, anyone wanting a slim case mostly to protect the phone from scuffs and dings on the silver rim take a look at CruzerLite cases. They're thin, have a decent plastic that reasonably soft and grippy (but wouldn't say stay on the roof of a moving car like one of my other cases), and cover all the edges - not just sides like many cases do. The silver bit at the top of my phone is getting dinged, this covers it up. You might have to put it on a couple of times to get the holes aligned, I had to do it bottom first not corner first. Their "bumper" case is interesting, no back to it just the edges, but the power button doesn't work well with it on. I may cut it out so I can reach the actual button like their other cases.

GoldenEye was what I always go back to when I wanted to get in touch with TouchWizz.
Very minimal and lots of bloat removed. Pair that with GoogyMax kernel would be what I'd recommend. KT used to be my fav kernel for pure tinkering pleasure, but Googy gives me much better battery life without sacrificing any performance.
