this has to be the best value for money at the moment, a 10.1 tablet for NZ$212.00 delivered and although its a cheap Chinese tablet, Ainol are probably the best of the bunch.

At that price it is great value for money if you wish to take the import/customs fee/china post gamble. Ainol also seem to have great support on slateroid which is a real bonus & is 1 reason i'm leaning towards them. There are several Ainol models listed on trade me but seem to be a weeee bit over priced, esp the Ainol hero 10 $299nz so i'm waiting for the price to drop $30-$40 then i'll go for it. Now that 4-core Tablets(Ainol Hero II(lousy CPU/GPU for gammers)) are appearing the dual core price should drop quite nicely :)

Jaxson: This has started to be advertised recently:
http://www.dicksmith.co.nz/product/XC8616/acer-b1-a71-touch-7-quot-tablet

Low RAM alert: 512MB is pretty tight these days.

It will run....but it will also lag.

i bought a 7" ainol tablet from MP4 nation and it arrived in 4 days . They use Fedex and you can track it the whole way, even through NZ customs . My Tablet passed through customs with no problems and it was the same price as the 10.1  so it is a good deal

Nice one. Do mind if i ask the model & price NZ you paided?. You had a good experience with them & would buy from them again?...thanks.

I originally ruled out MP4nation & was going to go with Merimobiles but chickened out after reading bad reviews on slateroid. Limited options for NZ based tablets so I'll prob go with Ainol Hero despite Ainol quality control issues(3.5mm audio jack) since it's seems to be the best value for money & great slateroid supports means i can fuddle my way through fixing any problems.

This disclaimer re ainol 10" from Mp4nation

"Screen note: The manufacturer states the screen as IPS, it is now common practice among China tablet makers to use IPS and MVA screens in their productions. They consider MVA screens the same as IPS. MP4 Nation is not liable nor will offer compensation for manufacturers lack of transparency."

Lol

So anyone have used it and can compare to mainstream like asus, samsung ?

I think I have enough skin in the game to be able to comment on this topic. I bought one of the 7" Vigos from Warehouse Stationary in September. After a few weeks it developed a video problem. I went through the usual support avenues (Andy of tech support is really good) and eventually it was pronounced dead. I took the Vigo back to Warehouse Stationary, and they replaced it without much discussion. The second Vigo kept going until just before Christmas. It had developed a sound problem (like no sound!) a few weeks before, but just before Christmas it refused to charge. After Christmas I went back to Warehouse Stationary again, and having learnt my lesson paid a bit (not much) more to get a Samsung Tab 2 7.0. Believe me there is no comparison between the two. The Samsung is brilliant.

i bought the Ainol Aurora 2  model which you cant seem to buy anymore, and have had no problem with it in the 6 months i have had it. i would buy another one but since it cost me us$169  [$200nz], i would get the 10.1 hero at almost the same price .
