psychrn:

Just had the phone call from my local Spark retail outlet.

They have received confirmation from Telegistics that they have found the fault with my Near New Note 5. But unfortunately it will not be under warranty as the Moisture tab has been tripped.

I dont believe this as its never been near water been in in its case near day one.

Cost of $350 and will be ready for pick up later this week.

Good quick service.

They said they can provide the photo of proof if necessary. How often and easy is this going to happen??

The only thing I can think of is sweat from being in my pocket??

I am always leery of reports like this. It's the problem with handing it off to a service company they can all but do whatever and say whatever they want.

Quick Note 5 question,

The clicker or pop out stub on the end of my stylus has failed,

Leaving me unable to remove the stylus from the phone. It will come out occasionally.

Is this a warranty issue. Use the stylus approx 1once a day phone is 6months old purchased from Vodafone.

Samsung dont seem to have parts available on there website. which would be outside their obligations re consumer laws

Cheers

Jeremy

You know how some people chew the end of pencils? Well, if you've done that, probably not covered, but if it's general wear and tear I would expect it to be covered, even if it's counted as an accessory. Please take it into your local Vodafone store and they'll check it out.

So I've had this phone now for the past 6 weeks. I can't recall the last time I was more impressed with a phone, and I have owned over 60 phones (Most of them flagship). The prior units I thought were exceptional were the n95-2, the HTC HD2, original Galaxy and S2.

I love this thing. I can't recall the last time I wasn't actively seeking "more" from a phone. It's fast, powerful, great camera, games great and has respectable battery life. Screen is fantastic. I just wish I'd done it sooner.

Here is the Resolution between ourselves and Spark and the TDR.

Spark Resolution team came back to me last week and offered to pay 1/2 the repair cost of the $320 I was charged for the "Out of Warranty" cost.

I accepted this. Didnt want it to drag on and were going away overseas soon.

Has anyone here got the dual sim version?

Looking at the specs here, it seems as though it should work on all networks in NZ? http://www.einfo.co.nz/samsung-galaxy-note-5-dual-sim-n920cd-4g-32g-white.html

Also curious to know how the dual sim set-up works, as I've seen different phones treat them differently in terms of what each is capable of while the other is running etc

Any word on when Android Mashmellow will be available on the NZ Note 5? Without Root, is it possible to get the update?

They told me the other day it hadn't been released for testing yet. And I haven't seen at of the models NZ carriers provide getting it anywhere in the world.

N920I hasn't had Marshmallow released at all yet, not even a leak. It's the last, or one of the last, to receive this update. Causing a bit of angst among international communities as you could imagine. :)

Samsungs rollout of updates is hands down the absolute worst in the industry. They fragment their own line by having 5 different models of the same fkcing phone. Just release one you tossers.

I don't know why. This practice (general abandonment of updates) has been the Samsung modus operandi for many years so should be expected behaviour.

Samsung has told me barring any major bugs it will be released before the end of April to ensure it goes out on all carriers at the same time in NZ.

I am starting to get concerned with my Note 5. It's behaviour isn't ideal right now. It keeps taking a really long time to wake up, and occasionally lagging really hard. Then today my wife was calling me, and the phone seemed under such load it wasn't playing ringtone properly and I couldn't answer it. Top that with seemingly terrible Wifi and I am wondering if I might have a fault!

May be best to just root it. Once Samsung has sold us the phone that's about it!
