Goosey: My 55X8500D is still running on a 2019 update also
When Checking for an update....”you are up to date”.

So I’m hopeful this latest update may be pushed out soon?!?

I manually downloaded the update from the link above to a pc and after unzipping the file copied it to a usb drive. When the usb drive is connected to the tv it detects the update and starts to update automatically.

The USB method is also a lot faster way of updating

Just do a manual update. From memory it takes between 3-9 months when you rely on your TV to get it automatically from release date. And as other mentioned, its faster.

KD-55X9000C - checked via TV for update, none available, so updating via USB now.

Had the intermittent volume issues so been waiting for this update - thanks team for the heads up.

Another reason to love Geekzone!
My C model had the update ready when I switched it on, and installed.
My F model needed the USB update, and ten minutes later it also got an update.

Mine finally connected today and said it's up to date.

Googling my base model number KD-55X7000D gives this alternate firmware, released 22-04-2020:

https://www.sony.co.nz/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-android-xd70xx_x70xxd-series/kd-55x7000d/downloads/00016672#relevant_products

Not a major upgrade though, just fixes a few bugs:

  • Improves general performance of the TV
  • Resolves an issue where TV freezes after update

All done.  Installed an update dated Jan 2020 from USB:

I have done mine using USB as well. It's fairly straight forward and the file copies to the TV first so low risk unless you have an unfortunate powercut exactly in that 15 minute period.

I performed a factory reset as well.

Had to re do all the picture calibration settings, not too bad... takes 10 mins. I'm that much of a geek I have them all saved in a google Sheet.

The KD55X9300D is so slow, I turned off all the live video bits...

Biggest benefit of the Android upgrade was the ability to turn most sht off.  The start screen became clear and simplistic for everyone to use.  After several years the TV finally became what we'd hoped it would have been originally!
