Hi All

At the beginning of the year, my Sony Android TV has an icon showing up for the Android OS Update, but then on February 2019, it was delayed for some reason..... the icon still there and there is no further update on that.

Does anybody know, are they still testing the update for the Sony Android TV or have they called it off

I just normally goto my settings and 'check for updates' from there.

There was an update a few weeks back that popped up on my screen asking me if I wanted to install 'now' or later.

It took about ten mins to install.

I also know theres an option for it to self install 'overnight' if your TV is in standby.... I didn't choose that option but someone else in your household may have unknowingly clicked that... and thus update was installed.

"We identified that our latest Android 8.0 Oreo update can occasionally cause a no sound symptom from certain Sound Bars, A/V Receivers or Home Theater Systems if the TV has been on standby for a long period of time. Unfortunately, due to this potential connectivity issue which we perceive as an inconvenience for some of our customers, we’ve decided to postpone the Android 8.0 Oreo automatic firmware update (v6.5830). "

It’s still coming. Since that media release it looks like it has been made available almost everywhere except the Asia-Pacific region. Not sure why it hasn’t reached us yet.

We often get things like that last. There is a Pie update for Samsung Tab S4 devices that is rolling out in several places but is not yet here.

The update was pulled for the issues with sound outputs mentioned above so the OTA rollout was suspended.

You could however still download the update direct to USB at least in some markets (Europe for example) for people who weren't worried about the issue - have you checked local support sites to see if it is available here?

It’s not available on the Sony NZ website, but yes supposedly you can download it from other Sony regions and update your TV via USB. They don’t recommend it for obvious reasons, but it can be done.

I’ve been trying to start a live chat with Sony on their website to ask about it, but every time I click through it tells me no agents are available and closes the chat.

I tried this but didn't work. Error message says incorrect region. I have the 65X9000F.

Hopefully not too long to wait then... by all accounts it’s a pretty good update.

I understand that the issues with the builtin Netflix and YouTube apps have been fixed. So that's a good start.
