myopinion: Yes I have a 7105 and it has the option to just select GSM/WCDMA (Auto). LTE/GSM/WCDMA (Auto) is also an option as is GSM only or WCDMA only.

Fantastic, thanks. One oversized phone purchase coming up.

Whenever I pull it out in front of someone new, they say "F&&&, that's a massive phone!", and I get a little ego boost. That and pulling it out when all the SGS3 users are showing off, and I pull out it's big brother, then they say "It's the same with a bigger screen", and I reply "but with double the RAM". Oh yeah!

Yea well you can get the S3 i9305 as well which has 2Gb.  But it's mostly the battery life and bigger screen I'm after, as well as the pen.  I actually don't care that much for the LTE/DC stuff really, but might as well get something a little more future proof.

Now a member of the Note II LTE club.

I was lucky enough as well to get a version that has a sane eMMC firmware, that is, it won't be affected by SDS.

Phew!

Got my Note 2 LTE (SHV-E250S), which is Korean and came with Korean mobile carrier software and language. So I tried to root it and upload Customrom Ace 4.5. Nek minit, I've soft-bricked my phone. I can get to the download mode and occasionally recovery mode.

Can anyone help? I've tried flashing stock firmware for Vodafone NZ, Korean SHV-E250S, and International LTE but still no luck. I use Odin3 and it won't write and will fail every time.

However, I tried some Verizon recovery ROMs from xda and it boot, wrote img, and would fail on cache img.

Any other LTE owners out there that could have a solution?

Question for those with a NoteII LTE and the Standard Vodafone Firmware:

Do you have in your "Widgets" section, the Email Account icon?

My Note II (which is the Hong Kong version) doesn't have it and it's really annoying me. I had it on my S3 which was a stock VFNZ phone.

Before I go to the hassle of converting it to a VFNZ branded Note II, I want to know if you have the Email Shortcut. Not sure if it's missing because it's a Note II or because it's Hong Kong branded.

Also missing for me are the Mono Audio shortcut (at least my S3 had this)

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

have had my note 2 for a few months now.
Have to say I am absolutely loving every minute.

Have tried a number of ROMs etc but keep coming back to the same combo that has given me the best battery life, most stable, most functionality with fantastic amount of customizations - and most accurate colour controls :)

Best Combo I have tried so far is:

ROM: Android Revolution HD (v12) Link
Kernel: Perseus (alpha 33) Link
Mod: Simplistic Framework Link

I love the little touches - such as setting colours for stuff in notification centre and the way it looks like a TV set when you switch off the power (CRT Off option in settings).

Some Screenshots:

Thanks. Going to stick with the HK Firmware because I really can't be arsed with flashing a different FW and then trying to change CSC etc.

I'm not sure I'd trust a "developer" who still (very first question in the Revolution HD FAQ) thinks that deleting the battery stats file improves battery life.  It's a kiddie myth.

That and some of the other hilarious things it provides: "Fully optimized and tweaked", I'd be worried about trusting my hardware to it.  No doubt that's a bunch of changes to build.prop which, like battery stats wiping, don't do anything - check the build.prop settings against the source code.  Many "tweaks" don't exist in the code at all.
That, of course, doesn't stop people who've installed it from claiming it's sped things up many times over.

The only people IMHO doing anything interesting in the Android space are the Cyanogen mod guys.  They actually understand code and are compiling it.  The rest are scripters that have learnt how to hack together "tutorials" from the forums, added some flashy icons to their forum posts and then release their "ROMs" with 50 cobbled together tweaks.

I'm sure you really are getting better battery life though ;)

I definitely have noticed a difference - eg when charging fully and leaving on standby overnight it's using much less. but also things like removing some of the samsung bloatware and allowing call recording etc.

I have tried cyanogen and loved it but had a lot of niggling issues such as camera app freezing a lot and random crashes. with ARHD I haven't had any crashes in the several weeks I've used it on and off and every time I try one of the others and find something broken I always go back...

My device wanted to do a software update this morning (its standard Telecom) so turned on wifi.

Data usage on the adsl is going nuts ever since!!  How much data usage should I expect for the latest update??

Anyone have any ideas on this?

So I have all Easter Weekend to get my Note II going, so I flashed the stock VFNZ Firmware today.

IT DOES NOT HAVE THE EMAIL ICON! (Not angry with you, angry with Samsung)

In the S3, I could have a 1x1 Email Icon and when you dragged it to your home screen, it'd ask which email account you wanted to open when you clicked it.  This doesn't exist on the Note II though, stupidly enough.

Oh well.

Just FYI, I had to factory reset my phone a couple of times before the CSC would change to VNZ, it keep sticking to TGY.  I was thinking I was going to have to mess around with rooting and using the CSC changer.  But no, a few factory resets and it now thinks that it's a stock standing Vodafone NZ Note II LTE.
