VodafoneDylan:
nate: johnr, any ideas when Vodafone will launch in NZ?

I don't think this one was answered specifically. :)

The Samsung GALAXY S6 will be available from Vodafone NZ from 11 April. We'll have more information about stores with stock etc closer to the time, I expect it'll be the normal main launch stores but I'm sure Nik will be able to add details closer to the time.

If you'd like you can sign up for updates on the Samsung GALAXY S6 edge on Vodafone NZ  at our Coming Soon page.

Pricing same as spark?

You're right,  I popped down to spark on lambton quay. They had both on display.  The edge is awesome looking,  but not interested after spending time with it. Video on the edge screen just doesn't look right.  Ok for short video,  but I wouldn't want to watch a film on it.  The standard S6 looks a better bet.  A lovely looking phone. Only negative,  touchwiz is looking very dated against google material design.

Re Touchwiz, I would prefer it if the manufacturers dropped their added layers and went with pure Android then provide customisations as optional downloads from Google Play.

Yes and a perfect opportunity for me to again mention that they need to separate the skin from the OS from the carrier pack. That way testing of updates doesn't have to go through so many stages before it finally gets to us.

Well, I've done it.  Black Sapphire 64GB S6 Edge pre-ordered from 2D!  Bagged me a free wireless charger too, which is good as I sold my old one with a Nexus 4 a couple of years ago!  Going to be shipped for delivery on April 11th or just after...  Can't wait!  Going to have a LG G2 for sale soon if anyone's interested, LOL!!!

Is there a way to pre-order an S5 without also signing up to a plan? Spark, vodafone and 2degrees all seem to require you choose a plan too before taking your order?

It's here:

The wait is over for android fanatics. On Saturday 11 April the eagerly anticipated Samsung next-generation Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge hit the shelves at Noel Leeming.

Gadget lovers can head to selected stores nationwide to get their hands on the latest models or register their interest now at https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/galaxys6

Both new models have built-in wireless charging capabilities, offering all the convenience of charging without the need to plug in. Additionally, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge feature a rear camera with 16MP F 1.9 LED Flash HDR and a front camera with 5MP F 1.9 as well as the very latest Gorilla Glass with stunning 5.1" Quad HD Super AMOLED display and 'real' RGB colour, delivering the most life-like images and film yet.

Noel Leeming will have these latest models available on a 2degrees post-paid plan but customers will need to be quick as stock is limited.

Noel Leeming Executive General Manager merchandise, Jason Bell says: “We’re delighted to offer our customers the latest technology and help them get the best from their products, so by being part of the New Zealand S6 launch, we’re cementing our place as the market leaders in consumer electronics.”

Late last year, Noel Leeming – the only New Zealand owned, national electronics retailer - underwent a complete brand refresh of all stores across the country.

Just curious, Spark, VOdafone, or 2degrees? Did you have to re-sign to a new post-paid plan or similar?

Just a heads up guys....  If you're getting the S6 or the Edge phones make sure you check the glass (front and back) for damage.  Quite a few users in the States have reported receiving scratched, even cracked screens right out of the box, almost like the launch demo units were recycled out to users as "new"phones.  Don't know about you guys but if I'm paying over $1000 for a phone, I expect it to be mint.  Thread here... Scratched right out of the box
