Many folk get the S pen. I bought the package with the case and pen with it.

I have used Notes for years so it seemed like I was coming home

Yea, I bought the clear view case with pen last week and it all just feels right now.

Yeah me too, it was probably the biggest selling point for me, that I could get all the S Series goodness along with the Pen functionality, and the case works well with the pen.

However if the pen was on the right-hand side rather than the left, it would be perfect, but that's splitting hairs haha

Possibly off topic but does anyone know what is happening with the Samsung S21 supplies with Spark? in the Spark store it says the wait is 4-8 weeks - is that the same for Vodafone and 2 degrees?

What covers/cases can you guys recommend, that will house an S-pen?

I prefer the likes of UAG, Spigen etc, mainly for their high protection effectiveness. I cannot count the times I've dropped my mobile on concrete/asphalt with a UAG, and no damage whatsoever, so I'd prefer these over the Samsung Covers.

Interested in this too. I'm not aware of any 3rd party covers that will hold the S-Pen. I did get the Silicon S-Pen cover and quite liked that, but I now have the Clear View S Pen cover and I wouldn't go back.

Upgraded to the S21 Ultra from the Note 20 Ultra, man colour me shocked at how much better the camera on this thing is. The Zoom is absolutely incredible.

I have been looking at replacing or supplementing my Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.

One important thing I want is the ability to use apps like CellMapper (free) and NetMonitor (which has a free version as well) to capture data about mobile networks.

I bought a cheap Redmi as a low risk purchase hoping it would run CellMapper etc (given there is not a lot of info on supported phones) and I've been pleased with it. However the awful performance (especially with its camera which is shockingly bad) has pushed me to the point where I want to either go back to iPhone (keeping the Redmi as a dedicated CellMapper/NetMonitor only device) or upgrade to an higher end Android phone (using one phone for everything).

I have my eyes on the base S21 but my concern is whether having a non-Snapdragon chipset would affect the quality of data captured by the above two apps (and other similar apps I may use in the future). I know from CellMapper there are devices report incorrect data (which ends up in the CellMapper and other similar databases). There are other apps which only works with Qualcomm chipsets. For this reason I am a bit concerned about the Exynos chipset.

Does anyone here use any of the above (or similar) apps and can feedback on whether the apps shows/records valid and reliable data for 5G, 4G, 3G on S21 series phones with the Exynos chopset?

I would be happy to receive via DM or email (james@pole.net.nz) screenshots etc of the above apps to see data it displays. I am quite familiar with the three networks so can easily tell if the data makes sense.

Examples of what I am looking for are:

CellMapper

NetMonitor

Given the cost I would be disappointed if the S21 turned out to be a dud! So keen to be sure it does what I want before I buy one to replace my Redmi...

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps out. :)

July 1st, still sitting on the May security patch. Thought Samsung promised faster updates?

I only got the update for my S10 that included the 1 May security patch 36 hours ago. While the S21 is newer, so further up the queue, I think you are dreaming if you are expecting anything quicker.
