jeffnz: @sidders did the prices ever go up to the telco's 1049 though my memory is rubbish but I seem to recall that mostly they didn't and settled around 949 after a couple of months.

correct. Also there were a few retailers who had a special at launch for about $100 less. Oh well let the phone come and then see what happens.

So according to the Telecom S4 page, it is "4G LTE compatible" ... so does this confirm it uses the Snapdragon 600?

It is very light on specs on the telecom page. No storage specs. Nothing.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Yes

So if the Exynos can do the LTE and 3G, why need snapdragon for? Because if I remember correct there is an article in GSMArena said that the snapdragon will be ship with LTE enable while the Exynos will not be ship with LTE enable, so does it mean we have to manually enable LTE connectivity on the Exynos?

Don't quote me, but my understanding is that the snapdragon is the LTE enabled version and the Exynos is HSPA only.

Anyone have any idea which audio DAC the S4 will use? I assume they will stay with Wolfson?

I would assume nothing. I think Supercurio had some information on the DAC in the Snapdragon one and he wasn't pleased.

Lazt Sunday so headed into Noel Leemings to have a look at some phones. Still to make up my mind on S4 so thought I check out some of the other offerings.

Sony Xperia Z was there, looks ok-ish but bit bulky when you pick it up as edges aren't rounded like I'm used to on S3. What is being said about display is correct and if you aren't viewing straight on its not very good but then again why would you not look straight on, apart from that it seemed fine and liked the lock screen. Is waterproof so that is a real plus for those of us that have already invalidated warranty with moisture indicator showing reddish colour.

The Lg Nexus 4 looks really nice and the display is good as well and was sporting 4.2.2. No ext SD or inter changeable battery.

I put the Nexus, Sony and my S3 together and the S3's display seemed bigger then I realised that it doesn't have the capacitive buttons on screen which make view able screen smaller than S3. The software isn't an issue as I flash custom roms and also change the appearance to suit my needs.

I also looked at the note and it was very nice and suits my old eyes so we'll see with that one.

I'm curious of the S Health on the S4 and the barometer as i use the S3 with Endomondo when cycling so if the software is able to run heart rate monitor and maybe cadence sensors through the IR then it will be a no brainer. Need to get my head around the Exynos v Snapdragon thingy but from what I have read to date the Octa only ever uses 4 cores at once and switches to second set to save battery which in itself is handy. Snapdragon is rated at 1.9 which is pretty fast but at end of day I'm more interested in battery life.

The GSMArena S4 Vs One piece is interesting - Samsung have added an Adobe RGB screen mode. With that and the 441 PPI there is literally no downside to AMOLED. Better blacks, better contrast, better viewing angles (FWIW), better sunlight legibility AND accurate colour temperature? As far as screens go for 2013 that looks like game over to me.

Camera also beating out the One, even in low light (which is what I kinda expected, seems few people paid any attention to the improved aperture in the S4, F/2.2 Vs F/2.6 in last years Samsung models).

This device looks killer, but I am concerned with how often I accidentally touch the screen when I hold it now or press one of the capacitive buttons, with even less bezel I only see it getting worse.

I read that review, I really like that site and the way it puts articles together. For me the screen size is the biggest issue, i think I could live with both with the exception of HTC Having a locked bootloader if it does.

Anyone know when the One will get here?
