NikT:timmmay: I don't think I'd want a hardware button on a tablet. I tend to turn it on and use it for a while, reading in front of TV, watching a movie, etc. My phone I pick up dozens of times a day, to set or view reminders, check my email, make calls, etc, etc, etc. The front button is a much easier way to wake up the phone when it's on a desk than having to pick it up every time.
Completely agree. Unsure why major tech sites haven't picked up that the ability to wake the phone from the front is one of the chief reasons both Samsung & Apple persist with physical home keys. I find I regularly press it when sliding the phone from my pocket, & don't have to rearrange my hands or the device to wake it up as I've had to when using HTC's silly top-mounted power buttons.
Have you tried any devices with a double-tap to wake feature, though? Killer on the Lumia 920 Mum got for her birthday last year, would imagine LG's KnockOn similarly excellent - definitely a compromise I'm happy with, that.
On a more Moto G-centric tangent, has anyone tried the flip cover? Is the magnet in it any good? Don't like flip covers so much myself, but they're interesting when done well.
Works nicely, replaces the battery cover and sits nicely on the phone. Flip it open and the phone wakes automatically.
