I haven't noticed any of the alleged blurring associated with this ridiculous bananagate thing.

OK did a quick search. No issues on my device.

Haha yeah woops probably should've given more context. Blurriness in the shape of an arch (people calling it a banana) when taking images with lots of text and seemingly when close up. So say if you take an image of a page in a book up close. I often use my phone to scan documents for work so can't have it be blurry. But that's great that neither one of you have an issue.

Is that the base S23 model? Apparently the Ultra isn't affected. I'm thinking of going for the S23+

I am using an S23U.

Actually I do see the "banana" effect on text. If I move my camera close it happens but at a certain distance away it looks fine.

It's like the fish eye effect.

Is this by design or a software issue?

Update:

To be honest I am not sure what I am seeing. Whether I am too close to the text causing the blur or not. I certainly don't notice it in everyday photos. If I was capturing text I wouldn't have the camera so up close to the text anyway, so don't think it's an issue?!?!

Apparently hardware issue. Not sure if it's been made to be a bigger deal than it is but other flagships don't have the issue so seems crazy to shell out $2k to have blurry text close up. I may have to bring in some stuff similar to what I scan and test it in store to see if it'll be a problem for me lol. Might look a bit crazy but oh well but so far I haven't seen many real world users complain so maybe it's not too bad.

I just think because it's such an expensive flagship that it is constantly under scrutiny, to the point where every little issue could be made a lot worse than it actually is.

I guess people shelling out big $$$ for a phone want it to be perfect but we all know there is no such thing as a perfect phone.

Scratch that, tested wife's S20FE and got similar results. Nothing to see here, unless people are nick picking.

So had to sell mine :(

I don't know if its one UI 5.1 or android 13 but it was crashing my cars media OS when using android auto.  Was happening 2 or 3 times a week and was taking 20 - 40 minutes each time getting it to connect back up again.

This was not an issue on one UI5.0 / android 12.

I would be driving along and then the sound would jam, the screen would turn off (even to the point of the reversing camera being all out of frame etc). Restarting the car after a few minutes would bring back the media OS etc however it would then report the phone is not compatible.  I would have to remove and delete all the bluetooth connections on phone and car to try to get it to connect again, sometimes that worked other times it won't.

Even started to do it on my fold 4 after the 5.1 upgrade.

Sold everything now using an iphone (not a single issue for weeks).

Just posting this so if others are having the same issue you are not alone :P  Car is from the 2022 Honda range

In other news, my phone just crashed suddenly as I was watching YouTube last night. Everything froze. I had to do a soft reset to get it up and running.

But then about 5 seconds after swiping my screen to unlock, the phone would freeze up again.

In the end I had to do a hard restart and start over to make it all happy again.

Cost me 4 hours of sleep. Wondering how I bill Samsung for this! LOL

I had the latest software and everything so not sure if others have had similar issues.

What's the general view on S22 vs S23?  I'm weighing up the options for upgrading from my 3 year old S10e.  Just saw the S22+ 256GB on Noel Leeming website for $1399 but seems to be sold out everywhere.\

On the one hand, getting the latest model means longer life, but against that it seems batteries die after a maximum of three years anyway

I had both S22 and now S23. Biggest difference is the battery life on the new one. It actually really lasts the entire day. I am using S23 now and not the plus model.

I upgraded my S10e to the S22 and I instantly didn't like the S22. The battery life was terrible - it couldn't make it through a work day without me needing to charge it by 5pm.

I upgraded to the S23 as soon as it was released, and I love it. Battery life is amazing - I've managed to get through a day and a half before needing to recharge it. I used both the S10e and the S22 as trade-ins to get a good price for the S23. Camera and performance is also great on the S23, no complaints at all.

Thanks, that's really useful.  I had read somewhere that S22 battery life was dodgy.  The S10e was great for the first year but seems to have gradually tailed off

I loved my S10e and was sad to see it go. I guess my only complaint about the S23 is the lack of headphone jack, but I knew that before buying. I bought a USB to 3.5mm adapter to fill that gap.
