Alrighty 2 hours later the esim swap with 2degrees is complete.
I have 5G and apparently VoLTE is provisioned as it's a menu option, but when I made a test call now it dropped to 3G so not sure what's going on there
No wifi calling menu option.

It took me just under 2 business days to get a customs client code. DHL said it will take a couple of days to get it released from customs.

Mine has arrived in CA. I am now waiting for this to arrive

https://store.google.com/us/product/wasserstein_solar_panel?hl=en-US

which I got pretty much free using the $69 store credit I got for buying the P8. Plus I also got $260 trade-in on my P4XL.

My friend will send them to Youshop (Google would not send there) and Youshop to NZ. I am not sending direct because I have a 50% discount voucher with Youshop and I have another item waiting there I can consolidate with.

Update, I now have VoLTE/4G calling working.
I guess it took a few hours for provisioning to complete. The IMS status showed as "unavailable" earlier but now it's "registered"

Also side note, the 2degrees store in Wellington (Customhouse Quay) has a machine to precision cut a screen protector for any phone model!
While I was there the machine literally just updated to say Pixel 8 and 8 Pro models were available! So I got my new screen protector done in-store too while my eSIM was sorted out!

Not sure if other stores have this machine but I thought it was very cool idea, apparently it has over 8,000 phone models programmed so it could work with any phone!

That could come handy, how much did it cost?

$49.95 for the standard one and $60 or $70-something I think for a privacy one.

Did they did the install in-store too which I'm glad cause I'm terrible with air bubbles and getting alignment right.

Why are people using screen protectors? I don't think I've ever damaged a phone screen.

I ummmed and ah'ed about it, wasn't going to get one. But for me it's that little extra piece of mind that my $2000 device is more protected from any small scratches (easier to spend $50 to replace a protector when it gets damaged as opposed to a $1000 full screen replacement.)

Exactly! It's hard for me to accept scratches no matter how fine on my screen especially when I'll look at it all the time.

Screen protector helps me with that...

Pixel 8 and 8 Pro is up on MightyApe now for the same quite high price as parallel imported sadly. Ships 8 November. No information on where they're sourcing them from.
