If you take it out of the box and have it on you, I am sure it will be fine, and your other phone just in your bag. Empty box in a bag etc I would think should be fine.

If it looks like its new and boxed, they might charge your GST/duty if its noticed.

Seen that sort of thing on Boarder Patrol NZ, but not specific to phones.

Only guessing though!

Yep, I got Pixel Pro 9 XL in Aussie. Opened it up over there, brought it back as my phone of use, no issues.

Is GST/Duty still charged even if you carry an empty box of the phone with you on the way back to NZ once you open the phone overseas?

Got my Vivo X200 Ultra from them, they were great to deal with. paid via bank transfer for the discount, showed up on their side within 30 minutes, was sent same day; took 48 hours to arrive and straight through customs no issues.

You mentioned that you had a Xiaomi phone on you. Is the Xiaomi better than the Vivo?

Did you end up testing if VoLTE and Wifi calling work on the Vivo?

Yeah got the Xiaomi 17U, definitely holds it own. Top camera, love the screen, OS is better as well. I don't really want to part with it, but the wife ain't giving me much of a choice.

News online of OnePlus pushing customers at their online store to Oppo products and OxygenOS being discontinued soon are the final nails in the coffin for me.

So placed an order for Find X9U 12/512 combo in orange with Giztop.

Not sure what I'll do with my OP13, might keep it as a spare/backup phone as not sure if there's going to be much interest/worth much to offload it.

@Thorak

You have tried a lot of devices and different OS such as HyperOS (Xiaomi 17U), OriginOS (Vivo X200U), MagicOS (Honor Magic V5), OneUI (Samsung Galaxy ZFold7) and ColorOS (Oppo FindX9U).

In terms of software wise if you were to rank them from 1-5 which one would be the best and which one would be the worse?

What made you decide to switch back to a slab phone from the foldable phones.

If you have tried iOS how does it compare to the AndroidOS from these manufacturers that you tried so far?

Samsung still out on its own for me, Good Lock is still the best customizable feature on any smart phone, its AI features are well integrated without being front and center and its the only OS (with Pixel) that lets you use 3rd party launchers without causing massive gesture lag.

I think MagicOS is undersold, yeah its liquid glass is a direct rip off of Apple, but its lightweight, customizable and really fluid. It has some great AI features that make it fun to use and isn't weighed down with fluff.

Hyper and Oxygen come down to preference. Oxygen is a little smoother but it has some really annoying notification bugs that make it a pain in the arse and something as basic as not being able to get notification badges on google messages is a crime. Hyper is pretty bare bones compared to all the others and like Oxygen has some annoying bugs like 3rd party widgets not updating, it lacks any decent launcher customization as well.

OriginOS for the Chinese ROM was probably the most fluid I've ever used, really light and responsive and had a real nice "bounce" to it, its lockscreen customization was the most fun, but its launcher lockdown ruined that to some degree and obviously Chinese everywhere was a pain.

The worst of the lot, is without doubt iOS. I cannot understand this "the OS for those that just want to use their phone". Its anything but, I see it as the OS for the idiot as the only way their settings menu's make sense is you're an idiot (tongue in cheek). Their notification handling is still lightyears behind Android and its just an all round....boring and very dated looking experience and don't get my started on their inconsistent gesture implementation.

I love dual rocking a Fold and Slab phone, a fold is just outright FUN to use and content consumption is unmatched. Reason I went back to exclusive slab usage is simply, I take a lot of photos and foldables are still well behind their slab faced brethren in that regards.
