Now that the Oppo FindX9 Ultra is official and is available "globally" (but not NZ or AU), is anyone looking to get this beast of a device?

From the reviews so far it seems like it is one of the best if not the best camera phone out there this year.

I am looking to finally get off the Samsung train. Currently using an S23 Ultra and haven't been tempted to upgrade over the last 3 years thanks to their Apple-like behaviour of making tweaks rather than advancements.

Well i don't see it as a huge issue to be honest.

I can't spend another 3k on a Sammy for features that are now well behind the competition.

You don't see not being able to make calls an issue?

Surely you know you can still make calls right.

@heavenlywild You reckon have you not seen the other threads of handsets that are not working with VoLTE?

I am keen & considering it.

Will wait for some battery testing on YT

Oppo NZ was going to bring it in but with the RAM shortage and price going up, it was going to end up costing similar price to the N6 so they decided not to in the end.

Also there are two global SKUs: 12/512GB & 16/1TB with the majority getting the former.

Do you have an online retailer in mind if you are going to buy one?

Let's get this clear: if the phone doesn't support VoLTE, you will not be able to place any voice calls, including emergency calls, using the mobile network.

If this is not a dealbreaker, then you are not buying a phone; you want an overpriced pocket computer kit to show off.

I have a New Zealand OPPO Find X9, and it's a nice phone and available in New Zealand. And it can place voice calls.

Do you have an online retailer in mind if you are going to buy one?

There are a few places with pre-orders live:

https://trinityelectronic.boutir.com/item/OPPO-FIND-X9-ULTRA-Global-Version/4991093773828096?currency=NZD

https://averagedadofficial.com/products/oppo-find-x9-ultra-global

https://www.giztop.com/oppo-find-x9-ultra-global.html

https://www.geekwills.com/oppo-find-x9-ultra-global.html

Also found a global version listing on Ali but with $17k price on it, I am guessing it's a dummy listing and a proper listing will eventually be listed at some stage.

I am only considering the global version, not the Chinese ones, albeit cheaper.

Out of the above sites, Giztop and Geekwills are the cheapest at US$1499 for 12/512GB & US$1699 for 16/1TB + shipping

Thanks @mrgsm021

Same here, looking for the global version too. Let me know please when you find out if it is compatible for use in NZ.

For the VoLTE, WiFi calling & 5G issues, from my perspective, it's no different to getting a OP13 which is compatible in NZ on all three fronts.

OP is an OEM that has never had an official presence in NZ but Oppo has.

Oppo is no Samsung in terms of the scale it operates at and therefore unlikely to have resources to develop custom firmware specifically for NZ, it'd have to rely on global firmware for phones released outside of China.

I might be generalising it too much here (not an expert in this area) but I'd imagine the firmware on the Ultra would be very similar to that of the Pro with some minor differences/tweaks in the camera department and the SoC (SD vs MTK). So if the X9 Pro works on all three fronts then shouldn't be any reason the Ultra won't.

My 2 cents.
