Looks like we will have micro SD card storage of apps in the near future...

Unfortunately thats not likely to come through official channels for some time - it can take quite a while for UI skins like Sense to be brought up to speed to play with new versions of the Android OS (as in months). Those who Root the phone will of course have the option of ditching Sense to get the latest Android version (and probably shortly thereafter getting a custom mod with Android 2.2 and Sense).

Regards Co-pilot: I'm using it. Seems fine, address search is unnecessarily difficult as you appear to have to know what suburb the street is in, but in terms of detail/accuracy I've not had any difficulties so far.

Regards comprisons to the iPhone and onscreen keyboard usability - check out a bunch of reviews (the Desire General forum at XDA has a sticky linking to a bunch) - they're all extremely positive.

deyur: I'm still getting to grips with my Desire (loving it so far though), so maybe this is really straight forward but...

When my phone is charging the profile seems to change. I noticed this because my notification tone was different, and when I checked all of my other tones were also different to the custom tones I'd set. Is there a way to turn this off? Is there a list of profiles somewhere along with power options (which I'm assuming is what's driving this)?

From my understanding, there are no individual profiles for ringtones (like on almost every other phone brand). I may be wrong though.

With regards to the problem you're experiencing, I haven't noticed anything like that with mine :)

A few days late, but I realised what the issue was. My tones were all on my SD card, and I'd mounted my phone when I connected to my PC, which made the SD inaccessible. Duh :P

got a bit under my temporary cheap screen protector.  I order a Zagg yesterday and will have to be more careful when I mount that.  Anyone want a 30% off Zagg coupon code?  be the first to PM me and you must intend to use it for yourself!

Crux> sounds like your dust is actually inside the unit? bummer...
my old Nokia suffered from a bit of that, was easy to open and clean though, I don't know if I'd be so brave opening up my Desire (just yet)

Good to hear someone else ordered a Zagg for their Desire. I took a gamble and ordered one too, despite the average review on various forums. Hope it will work!

Did you order the full kit? I just got the screen protector.

I just got the screen protector too... it was their videos with the mini grinder that sold me :)
Hopefully it won't affect the touch sensitivity.  Let me know when you get yours and how the install goes.  How long ago did you order it (I ordered mine yesterday), hopefully won't take too long to arrive.

Ordered mine on Saturday, by International Mail. I guess it will take a wee while to get here but it's a whole bunch cheaper than courier! I'm a wee bit anxious since a few of people mentioned the stickiness of the outer surface. Hope those are just rantings of the difficult or impossible to please!

Damn! Didn't see the grinder video :o) I was sooo hoping to get Phantom Skinz instead, but it seems to can't get hold of a model to create a template...which sounds weird...

Hey Jellyweb, I ordered a Zagg as well but didnt get a 30% coupon, was it emailed to you or with the protector? Got the full kit, but the easier of the two to fit as I am bound to stick it to myself trying to do it.

Ha!  I got an email immediately after ordering with a 30% coupon code.  Before ordering I scoured the web for coupon codes to get a discount, got excited about all these 50% ones i was finding but none worked (they obviously expire after used), so the most I could find was the code 'ZAGG20' which gave me US$3 off (20%).

Re dust, I dont have any but I think the 3.5mm headphone jack is a likely point of entry, I am surprised there is no rubber bung over it. I am thinking of either locating something like a bung, or getting a dummy plug lathed up to go in there. I found this site that does them http://www.ijackcap.com/Photos.php

Thanks to all for the tips so far. Made setting up the Desire easy and straight forward. Cheers!

Now if only I could figure out how to set up Call Forwarding/Divert I'll be fully under way! Rather poor Vodafone signal at home so I divert to the landline when I'm there. Any suggestions? TIA
