While anxiously waiting for Samsung's announcement on the 8th Nov (rumored Nexus Two), I've been researching the Desire HD. I now have 3 concerns with this phone at the moment:
1) Proximity sensor issue, does it happen to you? Has it been fixed by any of the OTA updates?
2) /INIT process problem causing lag, has anyone experienced it? This is the biggest concern I have about this phone.
3) Non-consistent LED notification indicator, it doesn't always work?

Are these common issues or isolated cases?

The proximity issue only affected the first batch apparently, I haven't had any such problems on my phone.
I used to have the init lag but after disabling all of sense, I've found that it has disappeared completely. I'm running my phone at 1.459ghz though which does speed things up considerably.
This is the first I've heard of the notification light malfunctioning, it seems okay on my end

I'm pretty sure the proximity sensor issue was fixed OTA in the first week after the phones were first released. I tried to get it to kick in but haven't managed ;)

No INIT lags for me. I'm using the phone as standard, with Sense enabled.

LED notifications seem to work fine for me, with the exception of twitter update notifications. If the twitter app is running in the background, continually updating, the phone seems to give up on LED notifications for awhile, until the notifications screen is cleared. I've got into the habit of pulling down the notification screen and going to the new tweets from there. I don't know whether the twitter app is to blame but its the only one that seems to throw up inconsistencies. Always going in via notifications seem to keep it on track.

Thanks for the clarification. This phone looks very promising, it'll be perfect if one day I can put cyanogenmod on it.

If they have stock they seem to get orders out very quickly. When I ordered a case for my Desire HD it took 3 days from the time I placed the order to the time it was on my doorstep. That was by Royal Mail with their AirSure tracking. My phone took 4 days from the time they shipped it - it might have been here in 3 but we had a public holiday.

The mail is so fast I cant figure out why anyone bothers paying the extra for courier.

Wow... My phone was shipped tuesday night, so it might even have a chance of being here today? Damit, now I've got no chance of getting that study done :)
