That's pretty cool. how do you open the multitask thingie? also is it possible to configure the HTC Logo to do something?

Double press home brings up multitasking. HTC logo can be configured as a button, but it requires root access and only the top half of it works.

Dropped my phone pretty bad on sat night, details and pictures to come. Spoiler: pretty mad at myself and disappointed in the build quality.

That's an interesting conclusion.

I went from a custom 4.2.2 ROM (it was based on 2.19 not 2.24 though) back to the Telecom stock and have found the battery life to be much better than the 4.1.2 stock was and everything also feels a lot snappier.

Of course I did a factory reset when I updated to 4.2. Upgrades can occasionally cause issues.

Here's a screenshot of current battery before putting it on charge, 5 hours screen time with this. I'm pretty happy with that.

I just ordered an HTC Double Dip case from Ebay. Much cheaper at $12 USD with free shipping than $50 NZD. I've never really bought a lot of stuff from ebay before, but since I got the One all my accessories have been ordered off there.

The battery thing was just a general observation. But for me since on 4.2 the phone has felt much more responsive than it was on 4.1 and the micro lagging I used to get is gone.

ViperOne has just been updated to the 2.24 base so I'm going back to that for the customisation.

I have also created a full return to stock flashable zip + stock recovery which I'll host somewhere if anyone is interested in that.

Just discovered that Airplane Mode now requires special permissions. So my non-Sense widgets to activate/deactivate AM don't work, and neither does the nfc tag I set up to turn the mode on! It says "does not have root access". 4.1.2 didn't allow toggling of gps ( android limitation) now airplane mode has been added. Is this (AM) an HTC thing or an android thing?
I haven't rooted my One yet, but I may have to if things like this keep getting taken away.

I dropped mine too. A few chips on the side and the speakers are scratched. A case would have prevented the chips on the side, and possibly the scratches too

I have discovered that when Google updated Android to 4.2 they removed the API that allowed third party access to toggle the Airplane Mode in much the same way as they had done previously to the GPS when Jellybean first came out. So all the previously working toggles do now is take you to the Settings screen. This doesn't affect the toggles if you use Sense as HTC have obviously included it in their 4.2.2 build. But it does if you, like me, use an alternative launcher and/or an NFC task launcher, or even Tasker.
So now I am faced with either rooting my phone or using a suboptimal (in my opinion) launcher to gain back some of the things I had before the update.
What's next Google? Will Android 4.4 no longer allow us to decide when our phones can be turned off?

I have a backup of the Telecom NZ 4.2.2 software which is the same version as Voda AU.

If you must have 4.1.2, you can download a CWM backup from here: http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1832-m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-htc-039-1299802/

If you are on 4.2.2 then you will need to use a root explorer to copy the folder to /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/ or on 4.1.2 /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/

You will also need to a flash a stock 4.1 recovery as well if you are intending on getting an OTA or returning for warranty.

Are you saying then that if you don't have a stock recovery you *won't* get OTA updates?
