also i have searched this thread and the net high and low for a forgotten app that i lost.

something like "where has my battery gone" or "what is draining my juice" - app that tells you in complete detail which app is sucking battery. anyone knows what it's actually called?

Massively impressed with the latest stable Siyahkernel release (2.1.1) - currently 3 hours shy of 2 days off charge, and still have 59% battery left. Performance is huge, to the extent that I don't even notice it's underclocked/volted. This is easily the best my SGS2 has ever been.

thanks, i got this one already. the other one i am looking for is a forgotten app - restored, lost it, can't remember what it's called, can't find it!!! arrrrgh ... i'm sure it's very corny like "where did my battery go" or something along those lines ... but ... these 3 phrases - no luck

Hey everyone,

Long time browser, newly registered member. :)

I took the plunge and bought a Galaxy S2 a couple of days ago. Unfortunately I've noticed an issue with the touchscreen (which I believe to be software related).

There are two areas on the screen that aren't responsive to touch on the Y axis. I've used the test code to confirm which areas are affected (haven't taken screen shots as yet - but can try if required).

I'm not particularly keen to root the device (based on suggested 'solutions' I found when searching the net) because I don't want to void my warranty, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated if anyone else has experienced this issue.

imo sounds like a warranty issue.

Damn - hopefully they'll just give me a replacement. I can't be bothered waiting for the phone to be sent off for repairs.

Just thought I'd let everyone know a little about a new ROM for the galaxy S2.

NDT MIUI

For a few hours now, i have been using the "NDT MIUI GINGER 2.3.7 MULTILANG SUPPORT V4.0[MIUI 1.11.04]" (android 2.3.7). This is the first version of MIUI I have used on the i9100 (I had previously used MIUI on the Desire and the i9000).

I had been waiting for a reasonably robust and complete version of MIUI to appear for the i9100, and this seems to be it. Everything seems to be working (I have not tested Bluetooth). Camera, camcorder, fm radio, bln, external SD card, etc.

Installation is simple - use CWM after wiping and clearing delvik cache. It also installs the newer version of CWM, and is happy to use the KG5 modem.

In use, I have been pleased with the finished feel of it and the facilities. In appearance, it is quite similar to iOS, but it has a great deal more than looks to offer. It's very tweak-able (unlike iOS lol), fast and capable.

NO SMASUNG BLOAT...

Battery usage seems ok, too early to tell really. I have also flashed the latest siyah kernel onto it (2.1.1), and it runs well.

Anyway, if you would like something different to Samsung based ROM's, give this a go. I would be interested to hear your reviews of it - it's still early days for me with this ROM too.

MIUI is based on late build cyanogen mod, and so is very fast, with a completely different user interface and theme. The cwm file for it contains a boot image, but the author says it does not install a new boot loader...

Anyway, it's working for me.

Just installed as well as Im getting bad battery drain on Dlev 3.1 and it shows my status bar is 30%? What's everyone else's status bar percentage? Is 30 high? or normal?

To be honest, it usually isn't worth bothering with OCing your phone. The SGS2 spend most of its time in deep sleep, and when it's awake it's usually running at low clock speeds. Unless you're doing something that requires lots of CPU (e.g. benchmarking) you won't see any difference.

There's also a bit of debate a to whether undervolting makes any significant difference. It only has an effect when the phone is awake, and unless you have a wakelock problem most of your phone's awake time will be spent with the screen on. Given that the screen its probably harder on the battery than the CPU, you might get an extra few minutes of battery life at best. It's probably not worth the effort of finding stable settings (which may stop working if you update your kernel).
