IMAP works great, couldn't speak to the other two as I use Exchange ActiveSync which is awesome.

I don't think you would regret moving from the iPhone for a second, a new One should come with Android 4.2.2 or will at the least have an OTA available and makes it in my opinion the best smartphone out there.

The only shortcoming Android has compared to iOS is the automated backup/restore stuff but HTC has done a decent job at fixing that by backing up everything to a Dropbox account and allowing full restores from that. Much better than Googles effort at it.

Just bought it an hour ago and honestly this is an underrated phone given that as a dyed in the wool Apple fanboy it definitely is the 'iPhone replacement' at this point. I've moved my stuff over to Google, downloaded WhatsApp and ASB Bank's online banking application - everything is working beautifully and the signal is even better as well which is kind of strange.

As for the experience using HTC Sync Manager on a Mac - working wonderfully and stable, and OS X even detects the Android phone so I can tether whilst I wait for the VDSL2 installation to take place next week on Monday.

I've decided to move things over to Google - everything is working great and migrating the old emails from one IMAP to another in Mail.app is as easy as dragging and dropping from iCloud to Google :-)

Btw, great sales experience in Upper Hutt so someone at Telecom should shout them a free pizza and a 6 pack of cider :-)

I have noticed this too. Dont know why, but I seem to be able to get service in places where none of my mates can. Been spending quite a lot of time in Ohakune recently, and there are certain spots around there which are service deadzones. Not for me though - the One seems to find bars where no other phone can! Other devices include iPhone 4s, 5, Note 2, S3, and a Nexus 4.

Small aside, I have cancelled my 4g add on. Dont even notice it being gone.

True, and the strange part is that it is completely metal yet is still able to hold a pretty strong signal - pretty happy so far.

With the prevalence of dual carrier configurations and the internet only being as fast as the slowly connection LTE sounds great on paper but it'll be interesting to see whether a killer application appears that tempts people to pay the extra money for the LTE service.

Just out of curiosity... Is anyone having any Google play issues on their HTC one? I've had some issues that have been resolved but were still a pain. I don't know if it is only on the HTC one

Have been looking but found nothing. Last monday I was clearing under our hedge since tidy kiwis throw their rubbish there and somehow my One turned on, then screen unlocked then opened contacts and dialed my sister in Aussie. Still cant find how on earth it managed it. I had only put simcard in day before and made no phone calls with it. Only taken photos. Contacts entered automatically through syncing. Very WEIRD.

Judging by the Press release images it doesn't look as if it is designed to go in landscape mode, unless I just haven't seen the pictures.

So would only be good for music and not watching movies/videos?

This is the first time I've seen this. Given that it is connecting via Bluetooth or NFC it won't need to be physically attached to the cube so theoretically you should be able to move the device about so long as it remains close enough to remain paired.

Since the 4.2.2 update my One's bluetooth streaming to my Ford's audio system has been affected. It still streams, but it won't jump to the next track using the controls on the steering wheel.
I have found some info online about blue tooth problems after the 4.2.2 update, to do with bluetooth stacks ( whatever they are). Anybody else experienced the same? What solutions are there, a part from waiting for a fix from Google that then must be massaged by HTC and pushed to us.

Question. I use WhatApps on my HTC and its great to have the message popup on the lockscreen with the option to view or close. The thing is though if I get a message and click View, it doesn't take me to the message. Instead I have to tape View, slide to unlock WhatsApp from the Dock, then tape the contact, so 3 steps when I thought it would be one? At least thats how iMessage used to work.

Any ideas how I get it to go straight to the message itself when tapping View?

4.3 fixes a lot of BT issues for Android. The update is coming to us by late Sep or early Oct. I'm running the leaked version and BT streaming to my head unit is flawless. But then I didn't have any issues with 4.2.2.

Has anyone taken the plunge and installed the vanilla (unmodified) ROM to turn the HTC One (Sense) into a HTC One 'Google Edition'? I've seen some forum posts on other websites but I'm wondering whether there is significant enough justification or whether I'm better off sticking with the stock HTC and waiting for the 4.3 update.

I have not done the full RUU change so no OTA updates but have run both the vanilla GE 4.3 rom and the ARHD custom rom, I prefer the ARHD rom, it is visually stock GE but seems more slick in operation. I ditched the stock launcher for Nova Launcher as it seems stupid having such a large beautiful screen and only 4 apps wide (I run 6 high x 5 across)

Personally I hated Sense and have never looked back since changing, the whole GE experience seems more cohesive and simplistic to HTC's offering.

Your best bet is to do a backup of stock rom, try a GE rom and if you don't like it change back, at worst all you will lose is a couple of hours of your life!!

Has anyone had any trouble with their one recognising their SIM card?
It started yesterday intermittently the phone says it cannot recognise the SIM card, once you reset the device it works again and connects to the Telecom network.

I thought it may have just been some network thing yesterday whilst I was in Auckland. But it did it all day yesterday and is still doing it today. I guess it could just be that my SIM had died? Although it's strange that it works again fine once the device is restarted.
