I use this feature daily, works great, i think of the phone moves while you tap it then it can sometimes fail to work properly. I assume the sensors confused themselves

This one has a relatively thick (glass) screen protector on it, and at first I thought it had something to do with that, but I'm no longer convinced because there are times when it simply will not detect no matter how many times you try it. It's like whatever software is supposed to be monitoring for the taps is not running. I thought the unit might be defective, but I've found various similar complaints while googling, eg. http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/375685-double-tap-to-wake/

Is it OK to charge this phone via USB ports on PCs/monitor hubs at 500 mA?

Yes, it will just take forever.

I expect you can't say but is there any feeling that VF/ZTE will have a solid update program for these handsets? I know it is a dream but would love to know that we will eventually see Android M on these

I have a feeling everyone will be pleasantly surprised. ;)

Now that I've found out that my faithful MotoG 1st Gen likely won't be upgraded I'm thinking about getting one of these but don't want another phone that'll be stuck on Lollipop so can anyone shine a light on whether the Smart Ultra will be upgraded to at least Marshmallow (and hopefully beyond)?

I'm having SD card access troubles with the Smart Ultra. I can read from it just fine, but I can't add new folders/files or delete things via ES File Explorer. When I try to, I get a pictorial pop-up saying: "Please choose the root directory (/storage/sdcard1) of SDcard to grant ES permission...", but then there is no way of navigating to /storage/sdcard1 (only shows internal storage). I found the same (or similar) issue being discussed online relating to other devices, and the solution is supposed to be giving the card a volume name, but I already did that before inserting it in the first place. The included OEM file explorer is only marginally more usable than ES; I can delete files, but not folders and add new files, but it's useless to me because I need something that can do SMB. Anyone figure out how to use ES with the SD card?

What a pity, where did you hear that from? 1st gen Moto G is currently on a newer OS version than the Smart Ultra, but I guess they can't support it forever.

Just got a new Semble update from Vodafone. Sadly, it still thinks the phone is rooted and doesn't load :-(

Picked one up the other day at Noel Leeming for $249.

Anyone know how to fix the stupid sd card restrictions?
I have root so no issues there.

Just want all apps to be able to read write and not have to mess around granting permissions etc...

I'm use to custom roms with this already fixed.

Thanks

I've decided to sell my Smart Ultra.  It's a decent phone but I prefer my newly repaired Nexus 5.

Phone is in mint condition.  $150 if anyone is interested.  Includes phone and charger (no boxes or anything).

I'm in Wellington.
