mrgsm021:

News online of OnePlus pushing customers at their online store to Oppo products and OxygenOS being discontinued soon are the final nails in the coffin for me.

So placed an order for Find X9U 12/512 combo in orange with Giztop.

Not sure what I'll do with my OP13, might keep it as a spare/backup phone as not sure if there's going to be much interest/worth much to offload it.

Congrats! Any reason why you went with Giztop in the end?

Thanks.

I went with them because their orange 12/512 is US$100 cheaper than Geekwills @US$1499.

Thorak:

Samsung still out on its own for me, Good Lock is still the best customizable feature on any smart phone, its AI features are well integrated without being front and center and its the only OS (with Pixel) that lets you use 3rd party launchers without causing massive gesture lag.

I think MagicOS is undersold, yeah its liquid glass is a direct rip off of Apple, but its lightweight, customizable and really fluid. It has some great AI features that make it fun to use and isn't weighed down with fluff.

Hyper and Oxygen come down to preference. Oxygen is a little smoother but it has some really annoying notification bugs that make it a pain in the arse and something as basic as not being able to get notification badges on google messages is a crime. Hyper is pretty bare bones compared to all the others and like Oxygen has some annoying bugs like 3rd party widgets not updating, it lacks any decent launcher customization as well.

OriginOS for the Chinese ROM was probably the most fluid I've ever used, really light and responsive and had a real nice "bounce" to it, its lockscreen customization was the most fun, but its launcher lockdown ruined that to some degree and obviously Chinese everywhere was a pain.

The worst of the lot, is without doubt iOS. I cannot understand this "the OS for those that just want to use their phone". Its anything but, I see it as the OS for the idiot as the only way their settings menu's make sense is you're an idiot (tongue in cheek). Their notification handling is still lightyears behind Android and its just an all round....boring and very dated looking experience and don't get my started on their inconsistent gesture implementation.

I love dual rocking a Fold and Slab phone, a fold is just outright FUN to use and content consumption is unmatched. Reason I went back to exclusive slab usage is simply, I take a lot of photos and foldables are still well behind their slab faced brethren in that regards.

So what ranking would ColorOS (Oppo Find X9U) be in terms of software wise?

Loving the Oxygen OS on my OP13, VERY smooth UI, so haven't felt the need to switch to 3rd party launcher at all.

It's ashame Oppo is discontinuing it and replacing everything with ColorOS, which I am sure I'd be used to when I have the Find X9U, albeit with some visual tweaks here & there.

WanaGo:

Ha - wonder how they do it. Maybe treating it as a gift, so the recipient does not get access to the declarations?

@WanaGo

Got the shipping email from Giztop today, going via DHL.

They mentioned in the email that they declared the package as:

1 x Phone US$138.99

1 x shipping US$24.99

Hope this answers your question.

Lucky! I still have no notification myself. I just emailed them and got a reply, hopefully have it today though. Got a few items, so maybe that caused a delay - not sure.
$138.99 phone - far out, quite the downgrade on what it should be aye.
I figured out from the whats my duty site, I would be up for about $700 in GST if declared full value...

That’s good to hear. I hope someone orders from Wondamobile soon. I know Thorak ordered there before and no issues but with the new legislation things may have changed.

DHL tracking number finally received.
Shows information received only, so hasnt been scanned yet.
I have asked for the value they declared things as, given this order is Phone + Camera Kit + Accessories (case, screen protectors etc).

Sure hope no issues coming in. Will just pay GST if it does, but certainly hope that wont be required.

Giztop replies to emails fast, I will give them that!

So Phone was shipped from HK, that is the tracking number I have already.

The Camera Kit and the Accessories are coming from the store in China, so that is coming as a separate package.

So that is good, 2 shipments rather than 1.

Will get the China shipment details soon apparently.

The more and more I settle into the phone and use it, the less I can fault about it. Really is probably the most well rounded phone available at the moment.

My next debate is whether to get the Oppo Watch X3 or the Amazfit Balance Ultra.

Looking forward to everyone else getting old of the phone in the coming days.

The Oppo Watch X3, I really like. Nice and fast, does all I want, made a few custom watch faces, does all the fitness and health stuff you could want, good sensors on it, and great battery. I get almost 3 days out of it, with quite intensive Bluetooth comms as I have it talking to my phone with sensor data and pump control (diabetic), so would last more than that just being a regular watch.

My phone is still on the information received status with DHL in HK, no first scan yet. Hopefully today.

Hit customs, had to pay $2.20. DHL make it shockingly easy so 30 seconds later it's through.

Ditto although this could be pre-clearance, my shipment likely still in transit.
