Latest Email :(

We would like to update you regarding the supply situation on the HTC Desire HD. As with many of the recent HTC launches the demand has been very strong and the supply has been both poor and subject to change in dates.

We therefore wish to try and advise of the current situation as best we can.

We have been told that our next shipment should arrive approximately 16 November which should clear orders up to 06 October inclusive.

Our next shipment is expected approximately 23 November which should clear orders up to 15 October inclusive.

Further stock is then due approximately 30 November which should clear orders up to 31 October inclusive.

Not pissed off about it. Just a little disappointed though. Pretty much means a 6 week wait for my phone.

Clove also state they "have taken the very difficult but necessary action to disable the ability to purchase the Desire HD on the www.clove.co.uk website and will only re-instate this facility once we have cleared our backorders or had more positive news on supply."

This is possibly already answered somewhere (please redirect me if it has), but does anyone have first hand experience with HTC Desire HD integration to Exchange? i.e. does it (Android 2.2) support Exchange natively? Can I customise the front screen to show me my calendar and email in a single view which does not require user interaction (i.e. opening different apps) to be able to see them.

Hmm... I know you people have been seeing 3-4 day delivery times from clove with airsure, but my DHD was posted on last tuesday night and hasn't arrived yet :(...

I got a tracking update last night on NZ Post's site saying that it had arrived in the country finally, but it wasn't delivered today... hopefully tomorrow

To those that have these - worth it at that price?  Otherwise I'm just going to get a Galaxy - it doesn't look anyone will have any more in stock (at cheaper sub 1k prices) for a month =(

It's honestly hard for me to say - This is my first smartphone so I'm of course amazed, I haven't used any of the other phones enough to really give a good value comparison.

If you wait to order it from clove, and then wait for the slower (airsure) shipping, you can get it landed for around $870 if you don't get pinged for GST. I haven't heard of anyone having to pay gst when doing the airsure shipping (it's handled on this end by NZ Post, go SOE :P), and I actually had two phones in this package (one for sister), so value around $1800, and didn't get charged GST. I think they only go for the big packages, small ones slip through. Anyway, it's still a gamble there.

However clove isn't taking any more orders at the moment, and my new order for another two (whole family wants them!!) isn't shipping until around the end of this month, so it could be quite a wait.

So SGS now or wait for DHD? Hard question, I'd look into the SGS' 'issues' and the DHD issues (which are much more minor IMO) also. If GPS is important for you, I can say that the gps on the DHD is awesome

Yeah, I can pick up one for around 12 hundy, but thats 400 more than the galaxy s.  I'm not really that keen to wait for clove (it'll be weeks at the current rate) so guess I'm just wondering if anyone has actually used both.

I see a lot of complaints for the galaxy, and I've had a very breif play with one and it seemed okay.  Having played with an HD2 (work get em) HTC's seem to be much more well constructed all round.

For reference, I currently have an E63 and Ipod touch 3g atm.

May have been mentioned, but I have been out of internet range for a few days (difficult but possible).  There is a fix for the /init lag problem DHD users were reporting.  It was as simple as setting usb debugging to 'on'.  A thread for it is here

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826507

Many pages long but the solution is in the edit to the first post.

It removes one of the nagging doubts about getting this phone.

Edit: An even better summation of DHD glitches/problems and their solutions here

Well I had my Desire Z shipped by Airsure from Clove and I got pinged by GST - not happy about that.
