Brendan:
Damager:
droan: ok i got a problem pls help.?

Tried flashing the Dlev 5.0 just now. Something went terribly wrong and i donw know why
I followed as per XDA's instruction
had 2.3.5 and siyrah installed before i perform the following
wiped data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sd card
the first time it installed it stop and said installation failed.
Tried rebooting and screen went black after 20 sec with bootscreen

Then i repeat ?reinstall and it said install success but after reboot the screen went black again and nothing. Power off n on and back to recovery menu?! run out of idea any one? is this officially a brick phone now?
?

Whoa.. Dlev 5 is a Galaxy S Captivate Rom! Get DLev2 3.1 and flash

Might be a bit beyond that now - he's likely screwed up the file system and/or file permissions.

Odin and a stock rom I think. Best way. I think the PIT file too.

I offer no warranty though!

yes I do need to buy lotto :P Now phone working perfectly on Dlev 3.1 :P

I didnt know there's a diff between phone's romware. I simply search for Dlev at XDA and naturally thinking 5.0 is the latest stable one to use. No idea that it's not compatible.

Anyhow, i did pretty much you suggest but because i done it before i read your thread, i used th 2.3.5 to reflash and reinstall Dlev 3.1 and Siyrah and works like a charm now.

In my own defence, I did read almost 90% of your FAQ very carefully and I want to thank you for your work. XDA is so large to search through which can makes one noob headche searching all over the place for simple and yet hard to find answers.

A final quick question. what would you suggest the modem i use under vodafone service? I see some people suggest the KG5? is that strong in signal and easy on batt?

Yes, I've tested nearly all modems for Vodafone, and KG5 is easily the best.

Another question, where can you find what modem version you are using from the phone?

There was also a link at the top of this page (153) posted by Kelem. That has links to all the modem versions, flashable via CWM.

Can you post a link to the firmwares on the new site?  Agree it's a pig of a thing - I got sick of looking for them and gave up!

FYI i am on XT and KG5 is working pretty good (best i have found) in a place with really bad reception, probably going to port the number to Vodafone if i end up staying in NZ, everyone else (Vodafone) has fantastic reception here.
