the stupid renaming of the stock browser to "Y x Tworld" or whatever on telecom phones is one of the most idiotic marketing schemes ever. the thing i hate most about telecom android phones. but, the tradeoff is hopefully an optimised CSC that allows everything else to function optimially whilst in NZ on NZ frequencies as mentioned above
i see Root De La Vega is pretty stable for rooting the Note3 without triggering Knox - im kinda waiting for an optimised touchwiz to be built so i can switch to it - id prefer to keep all the stock touchwiz settings, but just increase the phone's DPI to use this huge screen more effectively - someone earlier mentioned the 4x4 stock launcher grid which really is retarded on such a big phone - id love to move to 5x4 + the dock bar (so 6x4 total), and see other apps also rescaled to a higher DPI (as available in ROMs like Paranoid Android)
im sure there will be active work on this thru xmas holidays, no doubt in the new year there will be some amazing custom builds for the Note3. one of which will be hopefully renaming the browser back to "Browser" ;)

I would much rather they stopped changing heaps of stuff on our devices though. Like an Australian S4 on Optus doesnt let you rearrange or change the icons on the bottom of the home screen (Phone,contacts,message,internet)
And I also dislike how telecom renames the browser to y!Tworld and says telecom when it turns on where as other carriers dont. We buy a samsung device to get a samsung experience
That Optus one is really a bit silly. I imagine it would have been some kind of executive decision based on an excessive number of customers calling in to say they'd misplaced the dialer & messaging apps.
Thankfully, Samsung's high end devices have been quite robust in unbranding department in the past - as long as the hardware revision matches, and even when it's a minor variant like the 'T' versions, they'll take most any region's software. Not that I'd professionally recommend doing that as it can & in some cases does lead to a less than ideal experience on local networks (Higher battery drain from modem software that's optimised for different frequencies, et cetera). :)
Im not sure if it was just optus or other australian ones but yeah, He hated the samsung browser and couldnt change it to chrome at the bottom which was kind of sad
With apple iPhones dont get modified by carriers apart from the APN pretty much

But ive heard telecoms ending Tworld or something so hopefully that would mean them stopping renaming the browsers THANK GOD

yep i dont intend to run a case on my note, just a replacement coloured pleather back cover when they are finally available - so i reckon the thicker 9H version will offer some kind of protection. currently using the genuine samsung PET protector, its good in general, but its soft plastic under the spen, and causes irregular friction when writing/drawing. so im hoping the glass will be an improvement.
the mrs will be using a case/SView cover, so the thinner 8H version i think will work better for her.
i researched other brands, and the iloome had the best reviews and response. hence that choice of brand.

I Might jsut order the 8h one as I will have a case on. If you don't mind me asking how much did they sting you for shipping ?
yeah 4mm is a noticible hump above the current surface - those plastic hardshells that try to grip around the sides of the device will impact and dislodge the 9H glass, as reported by other users. the 8h is 1.2mm or something, so a better option.

Yep, no splash screens or anything there, just APN settings/modem optimisation/a browser bookmark to m.vodafone.co.nz (Which can be deleted). Very minimal.
