I don't think it's a lost cause. These phones came with a two year warranty and when the s8 came out Samsung claimed that their new non exploding battery tech would only lose 5% per year.

Having said that i would do all of the standard things first. Do a factory reset and start again. Install accubattery and after a few charge cycles it will tell your what the estimated battery capacity is.

If you do send it in you should wipe first. The techs will need to unlock it to test it and the thought of handing over your data to some random makes my blood run cold.

Be glad you don't have too have a gun in because that database just got hacked and half the internet now has my data. NZ police don't know anything about it and should stick to arresting people.

Had the USB port on my S9 fail while it was connected to my drone in flight in Aussie last week. Won't fastcharge (will normal charge OK) or recognise that its plugged into a device yet the wife's S9 still worked so I was able to use hers to bring the drone back in (a few trees around so I didn't want to rely on RTH).

Covered by the 2-year warranty from Vodafone to have it looked at, but that's being hindered by a lack of loan devices and I need a phone for work.

Visit a Samsung studio if you have one near you.

Work out of the Viaduct and seemingly equidistant between Albany and Sylvia Park with no easy transport options to either. Thanks for the suggestion though!

An alternative option is to take the device to the Samsung Service Center (with your receipt). Call them first. They do have a 1 hour service if they have parts/engineer available (+other conditions).

Have you S9 owners had a software update lately? I've got a Note 9 which is unlocked & my Mobile provider is Spark. Checking manually every day but continually told no updates available. I'm still on Nov 1st security patch and here we are more than half way through February.

I see S10 & Note 10 got it several weeks ago.

I think Feb security patch was the last one. It looks like 10 will be out maybe tomorrow or friday or next week as Sammobile has the aussie ones up today... we usually are just behind.

Not sure whats up with the Note

Maybe just the January patch actually. Check sammobile to see what they have for it

Thanks @sittingduckz. I'm not quite clear from you reply though, have you guys got the Jan 1st or Feb 1st security patch, or another?

I just checked the Samsung Members app to see if there was an update to when Android 10/One UI 2 was scheduled for the s9 and the s9+.

In the past week or so, it appears to have been pushed back from March 2020 to April 2020.
