Geektastic: Must be time for the Fold 5 thread soon!

Don't say that! My Flip 4 was dropped off at home by courier today apparently!

Rumours abound already (teardrop hinge etc) and I would be surprised not to see it around the same time as the 4 was released last year.

Has anyone come across this? It looks like "dirty" under the crease:

Definitely not the screen protector. It's larger now and touch is dead on the right side...

That's a shame. I was hoping the fold / flip screens would last but alas they don't. Might have to wait a few more years for the tech to mature enough for me to fork out 3k.

Ouch! that's not good.

My daughter just inherited wife's Fold3, the screen protector is just starting to peel off on part of the screen

Is that a 3 or a 4?

A 4 would surely still be under warranty?

This topic is about Z Fold3.

This is a PR device, no warranty on it.

Wow, that’s not good!

Most retail ZF3s will still be under the 2 year warranty and I would suggest people might have a pretty good case under the CGA for such a primary failure, even outside warranty. Unless, of course, the phone has been mistreated, because Samsung made a big deal about the durability of the fold system.

I got a software update today

One UI version 5.1

1127MB

security patch 1Apr2023

i was holding off posting here till i was all sorted but i may be out of the Fold game for now..

my ZF3 failed a few mths ago, samsung to their credit fully refunded me the purchase price, which was great .. but the whole process took over a mth.

basically i had a launch day fold 3, and absolutely zero issues with it until suddenly at the airport one day, just after an OS update ..the thing overheated, and i guess that resulted in a lifting of the back glass to the point of a gap appearing, and also the hinge failing in that it would not open past say 99% or so ..

just made me realize these devices are really pushing the limits in thinness.

went to a A54 after that and , being my first time with a slab this size ... kinda find the idea of going back to the narrow folded form factor  of a F3/F4/F5 ? not that appealing .... sammy really need to follow google i think and move to the more squat screen ratio
