Greekiwi: Well I had my Desire Z shipped by Airsure from Clove and I got pinged by GST - not happy about that.

What amazes me is that it took until now.  All it takes is for one Customs Officer to frequent Geekzone and see people gloating about not paying GST and 'bingo'.

I have a question about the multitouch capability of the Desire HD.  In this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVlsRCMltDg

The superiority of the multitouch on the Samsung Galaxy S over the Desire is demonstrated using a free App called 'Multitouch Vis Test' (at least that is the menu name displayed on my phone).  I am interested to know how the DHD fares in a similar test.

Have any of you lucky buggers that already own a DHD per chance downloaded this App and had a play?

This is one of the first tests I did on my device when I got it. Perfect tracking for up to four fingers and no axis snap at all

Occasionally, my current HTC phone gets confused in some touch enabled games.  My interest is (almost) purely academic and performance similar to the Desire wouldn't stop me getting a DHD.  Just something to be forewarned about.

Edit: Teihoata's post arrived while I was composing this reply.  Thanks for the info (I'm assuming your 'device' is a DHDSmile).

I've been contemplating getting this shipped via Clove but my desire to have this phone right away overpowered my desire to have this phone at a cheaper price. Called up parrallelImported on thursday evening around 4:30 pm and placed the order over the phone. The device was on my desk the next day :)

Upgraded the firmware via HTC update and still drooling over the features and awesomeness of this phone. I've also ordered the invisibleShield (full body kit)  from Zagg.

Actually I've seen lots of people complain about it, makes a difference in that multitouch keyboards behave badly and gaming is difficult. I found it an occasional PITA with my Desire.

I have a HTC Trophy 7 and overall liked it apart from poor photos.  Screen could just make out as well outside on beach 8am .  So line up and press camera button.  After reviews here i bought HTC Desire HD.
Screen nowhere near as good as trophy although larger.  No camera button.  Went to beach this morning as only 5 minute walk.  Took photos of my finger (lol)  Cant see screen at all so line shot up beast I can. Now since no camera button I try to find where to press to take photo, hence why i got my finger alot.  The photos I did get are much better than trophy but not being able to see screen in daylight and no button make it not practical for outdoor shots, at least on the beach in sunlight.

another update on stock.

Looks like they won't have enough to cover my order until into December. Getting less happy with this as the days go by.

Wonder if I can source one from somewhere else.

Got my news from Clove that my order was despatched today. SO now resisting the temptation to F5 the royal mail website to track its merry progress south towards customs. Do any of you lucky types who have this phone already in your hands have any tips on getting it configured to work with vodafone NZ etc
Also is there any speedtests on the new LTE speeds in the main centres and can this phone take advantage of that yet?

You have failed me for the last time!

Yep got an email stating that stock should be in by the end of the week for mine.

I told Clove to charge my card for it, so when everything is ready they can just go ahead and ship.

I've got my Desire HD on Vodafone. The APN settings are:
Name: Vodafone NZ
APN: www.vodafone.net.nz
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 530
MNC: 01
Authentication Type: None
APN type: default

All other settings are <Not set>

You'll love this phone. Good luck with customs and GST  Smile
