I have also one (the wireless charging S View cover) on order for two weeks. At the end of last week I called in and they called the supplier and were told a further 1 to 2 weeks until stock arrives.

Jb hifi sylvia park had a few in stock on friday and I got one from there. You could try there. So far havent had any issues with it

how has it "crapped out"? has the wireless inductor broken off? charge base short circuited? what do you mean...

could be the back plate the charging base as i dont have spares to rule each part out, was only able to rule out the AC adapater and usb cable.

hopefully the LG WCP 300 i ordered to work with the LG SmartDock2 i will use for my note3 in the car will arrive this week so i can see if its the back plate or the base thats faulty

I had a similar thing with an ebay purchased charging base. No placement of the phone could get a consistent charge or make it happy and eventually gave up and threw it out. Another, slightly better quality (at least looks and feel) QI pad has worked perfectly.

Strangely enough, I had problems with mine just a few minutes ago. The charge light operates on the charge base, but no indication from the phone. I shut the phone off and placed it back on the base and it started charging. Took it off the base and started it up again and now all appears to be working fine. Will keep an eye on it.

dont these charging bases require the phone to be aligned in a specific way, for the charging to work properly...? i thought i read that only the Qi bases allow the phone to be placed in any direction and still work - im assuming of course that youve already tried it in all kinds of orientations to see if it makes a difference? :)

how annoying tho, for a new purchase to not work. damn.

ive had irregular charge performance from mine but im thinking its the way i have it set up - i bought a genuine samsung charge dock for the S3, which is basically a flip up door with a microusb connector on it

this thing takes a microusb input, and sends the signal to the phone, to charge it. the only additional thing it does, is use a resistor somewhere inside it, that tells the phone that its connected to a DOCK, so it triggers dock mode on the phone, and brings up things like the bedside clock mode, calendar mode, etc.

so thats great, and it works on the note3 as it did on the s3. the only thing i did was to use the note3's more powerful charger, to feed the dock. i was hoping that the extra amperage would flow thru the normal usb2 cable, thru the dock, and quick charge the phone

results have been irregular. sometimes, it will charge up super quick, as if plugged directly into the factory note3 charger (about 10% charge every 20min). other times, slow charging - (from about 30% to only about 80% after leaving it docked for 7 hours overnight) - same issue i had with the S3 which had a known charge issue on JellyBean 4.1.2

it seems, if the phone is tricked into being awake for whatever reason, it doesnt go into fast charge mode, and takes forever. i have now turned off "dock mode", clear all notifications (so the LED isnt flashing all nite) and make sure all background apps are shut down, before i dock it at bedtime - now, 95% of the time, it charges fully. annoying to have to do this but it increases my success rate quite alot

have you tried shutting down background stuff before placing on the wireless charge base? i dont know if it would do anything, just a suggestion incase the phone is in a "busy state" and is unable to start a consistent wireless charge?? by this i mean, going into the app manager (or use the "running apps" widget) and shut everything off, then go the RAM option and 'clear memory', then lock the phone, and charge

worth a try??

Which model to buy? there seems to be two 9000 and 9005
I presume one has LTE what ever that is! and one doesnt

Choice is based on mainly home use on network in Wanganui and some use in UK
and of course resale value

as a side note has anyone gone to buy a note then been sold on the Sony Ultra?

Don't bother with the N9000 - no 4G LTE & has Samsung's Exynos processor instead of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800. The Exynos is still a bit dodgy. Much less resale value on the 3G-only variant as well. N9005 is a much better choice considering the price difference is pretty negligible.

I dig the Z Ultra, have reservations about the battery life, though. Also no camera flash - not that I use them as flashes, rather an indispensable torch.
