sep11guy: the dse one is a "spark" branded one, so does it mean it will have all Telecom 's software on top of samsung's ( on boot, apps etc )

Thanks

So far DSE, NL, WH all say Spark version. Warehouse Stationary says "compatible with all networks". The phone would work on any network though so you can buy the Spark version and use any network. From the limited info to date the Spark version will have Spark apps installed, and will be likely a Spark Samsung firmware (eg when updates coome out as per the nomal painful Samsung process if you are using the phone on Voda you will still be waiting for the Spark update on Kies.). Whether it has a boot animation or not - wouldn't know.

Not guarantees on the above, just speculation from teh work people have doine here so far (read back).

don't you think the preorder price @ 965.15 from a couple of days ago is a better deal?

The dude I just spoke to at Dick Smith reckons I should get the free wireless charger with the preorder also. He didn't sound totally confident to me though.

Does anyone have a link or anything to the promo? Can't find it on their site.

I facebook messaged them and they said they were adding it to the order. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't get it as it's the same sku.

Mines now emailed that it's shipped. Yay for tomorrow.

Hmm I can't quite decide. Stay with my S5 or get a note4? The only thing putting me off is the size.

I am assuming you will be selling your S5? Not exactly sure what they go for on Trade Me, $600?

So ask yourself what is $450-$500 (Price difference of S5 + N4 once you sell S5) going to get me and see if its worth it.

I'll sell my HTC One M8 most likely. Unsure to know if it's going to be that much better. How do others here feel?

Um, they're all so good that any meaningful differences come down to personal opinion.

Cheers - N

AMOLED - I have always preferred the more natural colours on IPS displays. A pentile screen at that size at 1080p looks pixelated (Note 3) whereas the iphone 6+ 1080p display looks great - so Samsung had to go Quad HD with pentile in order to match or beat the iPhone - but this also means Battery life at high brightness is gonna be seriously compromised. It almost made me go LG G3 but it has its own battery, skin and overheating issues.

No its using the same new AMOLED display from the TAB S 8.4, diamond pixel, and the colour tests to be much more accurate than LCD now as well. First panel to get over 90% in colour accuracy off the top of my head from displaymate.com testing?

"Based on our extensive Lab tests and measurements, the Galaxy Note 4 is the Best performing Smartphone display that we have ever tested. It matches or breaks new records in Smartphone display performance for: Highest Absolute Color Accuracy, Highest Screen Resolution, Infinite Contrast Ratio, Highest Peak Brightness, Highest Contrast Rating in Ambient Light, and the smallest Brightness Variation with Viewing Angle. Its Color Management capability provides multiple Color Gamuts – a major advantage that is not currently provided by any of the other leading Smartphones. The Galaxy Note 4 delivers uniformly consistent all around Top Tier display performance: it is the first Smartphone display to ever get all Green (Very Good to Excellent) Ratings in all test and measurement categories (except one Yellow for a Brightness Variation with Average Picture Level) since we started the Display Technology Shoot-Out article Series in 2006, an impressive achievement for a display. The Galaxy Note 4 has again raised the bar for top display performance up by another notch."

But does it still flicker at low brightness like the other amoled? I prefer tableting on my cheap tab3 in low light because of that.

Pretty sure they would have picked up on that. The testing is bloody extensive.

motorwayne: I'm interested in what people are using as an in car phone holder? My current model won't fit the N4 device and I had to butcher it to fit the G2.

What's available for the it in the box between the front seat.

Repco they have a good range of universal phone holders now, I have a few of them, in different cars, not had one drop a phone yet, suction cup style. Brand is automedia, basic one is $16.99, can get others with a longer neck, with USB charger & cable for more
Currently have the Note 2, and they expand more than the Note 2 size for sure!
