No 5G for me either way - I'm with 2Degrees. Don't really feel I'm missing out because of that, so not an issue for me.

mahdibassam: I think folks are a bit too much with the 5g and volte stuff. 5g is barely live in 10 of Auckland for spark , and 2degrees hasn’t even started rolling it out. It will be 1 or 2 more years before it fully kicks off. It’s not like we are stuck with 2g right now , 4g is bloody fast and takes way less of a hit on battery too co pared to 5g.

Like a lot of people here and Pixel buyers in general just a nerd and want and need the stuff for technology exploration and evaluation..

Also, in my case supplier claims their 5a has 5G support with Spark. I'll need to exhaust a few possibilities before I get back to them, again. Similar claims are made for Pixel 6.

I know mate I'm the same hehe. But want and "need" are two very different things 😅

Anyway for me the pixel 6 pro package all together far outweighs my need for 5g. I'm on z fold 3 right now and my area doesn't even have have 5g so yeah.

Let's see how I go once pixel is delivered on Thursday.

No, but my use case is call screening, to avoid having to talk to people :-)

As that is not supported in NZ, doesn't cross the price / performance ratio.

Pixel 5 owner here for almost a year.

Google have locked 5G and VoLTE other than on their carriers listed on here - https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/10082009?hl=en

You will still need to call up your carrier to enable 5G and provision VoLTE on their end however neither will work until Google have lifted the restriction.

I can live without 5G however VoLTE is the real bummer. If you frequent rural areas which are 4G only I would strongly caution you from getting a Pixel phone.

2degrees doesn’t even have volte , it will be years before nz telcos starting decommissioning  3G , probably when pixel 12 comes out !

just think people are putting too much energy into 5g and volte, for my they are not buying factors at all.

2degrees volte is live in most places now and also I'd hate for people to wonder why they can't make calls around an RCG tower which sure only applies to rural but nobody knows how long it will be until 3G is turned off.

4G sure is plenty fast in most places and 5G is a cool bragging rights feature but VoLTE is massive for me and for some who maybe lives in an area where 3G is also a struggle (some parts of Whangarei and Auckland do legitimately struggle due to geographical reasons) but 4G is "fine"

Saying people are too obsessed is not entirely fair and the pixel 6 is not cheap. If I actually paid money. I'd want it to work.

The Pixel 6 Pro box is 85mm x 173mm x 35mm and the OEM Google case (85mm x 173mm x 15mm) approximately.  With the phone in the box and the case it weighs about 380g.  Was a total of 600g with the bubble wrap and DHL box.  (It was sent to me in the 1kg DHL box).  Hope that helps.

A quick check with ShipitTo shows about US$75 via UPS using their
38 x 14 x 14 cm box and 1kg. This excludes GST of course.

Not sure Youshop would send since they are so picky about batteries

Looks like Mighty Ape are releasing the Pixel 6 on the 12th November (8/128 version in the 3 colours).  It is tempting.....but still overpriced I think.

Those prices though. Dick Smith, a subsidiary of Kogan, is selling the phone for 1200, while MightyApe, also a subsidiary of Kogan, is selling the phone for $1400. What?

I hope that nobody buys it from MightyApe because the price is a scam. Also, the fact that they're advertising the phone as '5G', when we know that it won't actually work with 5G, is borderline false advertising.
