NZtechfreak: What he said, I went through all that last night, painful really. I wish they would just have a hardware button combination like Samsung are using.

the iphone also just uses 2 buttons to take a screen shot

Sure, but didn't seem quite as relevant to say in an Android thread.

scoobydoo:

So I  installed the platform-tools but once I had done that, the tools folder was empty!

I was like.... wtf?

Did I download the wrong SDK or something? What have I done wrong?

You need at least the Gingerbread (2.3) SDK.
You need to install the packages via the AVD Manager. That's the "android" program in the \Tools folder. Mine looks like this.

Android SDK

Trying to pair it to another cellphone I have via bluetooth, it asks for the passcode. I have tried 0000 and 1234 without success.

Anybody have any idea what the initial code would be? In the Bluetooth settings, there is no option to set a code?

EDIT: Actually, never mind, sorted it out. Realised you actually just set the PIN when you connect, then you just enter the same pin on the connecting phone.

The user guide says it is either 1234 or 0000  (Page 186)  http://dl4.htc.com/web_materials/Manual/HTC_Sensation/20110506_Sensation_HTC_WWE_UM.pdf

If that's not working something must be wrong...

well not so happy now...
it was meant to come with a "FREE" screen protector... but it didnt. I emailed Mobicity about this, they just phoned and said they dont have any, and offered a car charger or case instead... Doesnt help to protect my screen much :(

Also for some reason I cannot download any appys from the market... eberything is stuck on the "starting download" stage but nothing downloads??

Am connected via wifi.

Also I can get see my gmail via the gmail app, but the HTC mail app can see the gmail server, or hotmail??

weird.

The Market problem is probably related to it being a new device, likely to sort itself out reasonably soon (I've had that before with new Android devices).

Not yet, I heard early reports that it was working on the Sensation, but most of those people came back quickly to say that it froze after 10s or so.

I did a short test of 30s or so and it appeared to work fine if you held the phone in landscape mode.

I'm looking into buying a Sensation this weekend from clove and was wondering what accessories and cases people have been using and would recommend me getting at the same time?

I've been looking at the hdmi cables and barely there cases but it's hard to tell what they are like when you only get a picture of them online Laughing

NZtechfreak: MHL demo video is up, working just like it does in the SGSII (with some pros and cons of course).

Excellent demo. Thanks for taking the time to do this

No worries! Really enjoying MHL on my SGSII and Sensation, especially now I discovered the Phonejoy for emulator games.

NZtechfreak, Would you mind advising where you purchased the MHL HDMI cable? Have looked on eBay and found them for varying prices.

Battery life on the HTC Sensation is interesting.

Today I unplugged the mains at about 7:30am. By 17:54 my battery was on 85%. I had looked at a couple of web sites briefly and sent / received a few txts. But otherwise it was just riding in my pocket.

The only other Android phone I've seen last that long in a similar way is the Vodafone 845...which yesterday went 24 hours and was still on 92%. Again, usage very light. Perhaps 4-5 mins in the 24 hours.

I should make it clear I usually kill a smartphone battery by 5pm, so having one still on 85% feels like a miracle.
