macuser: My purple tint only happens when I black out the camera with an object (not finger as light bleeds through).  It also happens when it's in a low light environment for a long time.

Is this normal behaviour?

Known hardware issue. Take it back, get it replaced with a new one.

Haha now how do I return to Sense from GPe without looking like it's been modified?

Download and flash: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-980-2-zip/ make sure to select the option to flash the stock recovery as well.

That will restore it to the 4.2.2 Optus (TNZ, VFNZ etc) firmware, do a basic setup and get the OTAs to 4.3 and then 4.4 (needed to restore the white bootloader and correct firmware). Camera problem should still exist.

The dots display for the new M8 case is coming to the app store, hopefully they'll consider making a case that fits the M7 to match..

Has anyone had luck with unlocking their device thru HTCDev?  I can flash the Unlock_code.bin but no menu pops up to let me unlock.

I made a huge F up by not changing my model ID back to that of a stock NZ HTC One, so can't install OTA updates, plus my device is now S-ON and locked.  Firewater doesn't work on my device either.

Looks like the only way I'm going to be able to recover my phone fully back to stock is to take it to a repair shop that has a 'Java Card', which is used for Sim unlocking phones/S-Offing devices to return to factory.

Does anyone know of any repair shops in Auckland that might have that capability?

I think my phone/battery is dying?

I charged it up yesterday, took it off charge probably around 11am-12pm. I am not a heavy user so can always get 2-3 days out of it. I woke up this morning (7am), checked the stuff homepage and the battery was on about 30%. Then I looked at it around two hours later and the battery was at 1% and then died.

Now when I am charging my phone, the LED light at the top flashes on and off every 10 seconds or so, the charging icon appears on the phone where it says what the current battery level is but that flashes on and off as well. I did notice this yesterday as well but thought nothing off it.

Think it is just out of the 1 year warranty as well.

Also, when I was at work on Saturday I made a call to my boss and noticed the dialer was upside down when I made the call. So where the "HTC" logo is on the front of the phone I had my ear there and the camera sensors I had my cheeks/jaw/mouth. Was that one of the first signs of my phone dying or can you just do that with the phone?

Cheers guys.

Just turned my phone on, I was charging it while it was off. It stopped charging once I turned it on and I went into the battery settings. It said that it had been on for 2 days and something hours. That is a lie because I had it off yesterday when I charged it also. Also, when I turned it on it stopped charging, it is now off but it is now charging anymore, no LED light no flashing screen, nothing.

Will try charging from my Laptop...

Just plugged the USB cable into my Laptop. It said USB not recognised on my Laptop and my phone automatically turned on. It flashed up a white screen, like that of the "HTC quietly brilliant" start up.

Now I don't see any charging %, just the orange LED charging light. I will wait till it reaches 100% and then turn my phone on again and see what happens. Maybe the Power adapter is faulty?

I've had issues where the usb cable been a little loose and it doesn't charge.
Ie if it's screen up its tempremental but fine if screen down as the weight if the cable seems to create better contact.

Just a thought.

I had the same issue with the stock usd cable early on, not all plugs on those usb cables are created equal. I was able to find one (from an old phone) that wasn't loose and kept the phone charging even when I'm using it plugged in.

That'll probably take many many hours... laptops don't normally put out enough milliamps.
As others said, try a different cable in your charger.

The charger worked for my Laptop however yes it took hours haha. Same USB cable, maybe the Charger Adapter is just faulty/my battery? It doesn't look like its the cable.

My phone is now showing 100% battery remaining, have had it off charge since around 2pm.

Original HTC One to get Sense 6 by the end of May - in US and Canada at least:

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Update on my charging problem. I can no longer charge my phone at all. This morning I tried to charge it through the power socket in the wall, no LED light both when phone is on and off. When the phone was on it didn't recognise that the USB cable was inserted/power was on it was as if it wasn't. Tried through my laptop, again no LED light or charging however it did recognise that a USB cable was connected to the phone (When the phone was on) and I could browse my phones memory.

I now think it I a problem with the battery itself because my laptop recognised that there was a connection between itself and the phone via USB.

It is currently switched off, on 5%. I will probably turn it on a bit later and quickly get some files/pictures/videos etc onto my laptop so I don't lose them (Should of backed up my data!!)

I bought it from Dick Smith, just over 11 months ago so I can still take it in under Consumers Guarantees Act I guess? Anybody know what Dick Smith are like with after sales support? I have heard only negative about them.

Unfair to pass judgement on a retailer's reputation based solely on hearsay: best to find out for yourself. Take it back to Dick Smith's and ask them nicely to repair or replace it under warranty if they don't, then you can come back and fire slings & arrows at them to your heart's content.
My wife had to return her Iphone5 four times to Telecom because of charging problems and each time they replaced it with a new one.
