aim: I want to see one of these phones hands on!! I'm concerned about build quality...
2DegreesCare:
Just to reiterate we will be selling the 16GB, international version with 24 month warranty, available in black and white for $699 from mid November.
2DegreesCare: Hi all
We appreciate your views regarding the launch of the Nexus 5.
We’re very proud to be making this Android flagship device available to our customers and believe it still represents very good value at $699 with a 24 month warranty. This is $100 less than the Nexus 4 launch price last year.
If people would like to purchase it directly from Google, please make sure you factor in the cost of shipping and relevant taxes and the fact that it will not come with a New Zealand warranty.
Obviously Google has significant buying power given the volume of handsets they purchase globally which we, as a much smaller retailer, unfortunately can’t match and we have provided feedback to both Google and LG regarding this. However we think it is important that this handset is easily available in the local market so people have a choice. Please be assured this is the best price we have been able to achieve and there is no significant mark-up on this product. People also have the opportunity to get a discount off this price if they take it on a plan.
Just to reiterate we will be selling the 16GB, international version with 24 month warranty, available in black and white for $699 from mid November.
Cheers

mwilcox:erlend: They have the Nexus 5 listed on becextech.co.nz. Both 16GB and 32GB models for $679 and $739 respectively. Seems like a reasonable price for NZ, and it says they'll be in stock from 15th November. Anyone else extremely tempted?
Looks like another parallel site, they don't list whether GST is included, which points to it not being. I would stick with a local store.
ccpptt: i was under the impression that LG NZ will honour and service any LG branded phone regardless of its origin of purchase? the only condition is a valid receipt of purchase.
for instance, users who purchased a nexus 4 and imported it themselves into NZ could be rest assured that in the event of the need for it being RMA'd or repaired, they could simply do it through the local LG (NZ) service centre.
have i "heard" incorrectly?

What's wrong with a parallel site, exactly? Assuming it's the international version (which I've emailed them about), then I can't see any real down side. Not 100% sure about GST, but I've been through the checkout process all the way to payment, and it still states the price I stated above.

Why? The Nexus line have always been pretty good, you wouldn't want your brand tarnished if you were Google.
My Nexus S got dropped in the toilet last year and it's still running fine
pc:- No
will be you getting the 32GB version as well?
Hi,-
For all of us who have bought the US version , will you guys sell accessories separately ? ( cases etc.)
We are looking into it at the moment
mwilcox:
If that's the case and gst is included in the price, that's not so bad then. I assumed they were just doing the same thing mobicity does to lure in unsuspecting customers and then getting stung with customs fees.
Still though, is a $20 difference worth not being able to just head down to a local store and pick one up? Much easier if there's anything wrong with the device too.
Also, I just went to the checkout- you'd be paying $30 in shipping anyway.. I guess if you really want the 32gb version it's not a bad deal, but there's no reason to use that outlet instead of a local 2degrees store (or warehouse stationary price match) for the 16gb.

I definitely want the 32GB model, which is barely enough as it is. Does anyone know when other stores such as Noel Leeming may begin to stock the phone? I'm not patient enough to wait until after Xmas, and I suspect everywhere will sell out pretty quick, but I'm willing to wait a couple of weeks if necessary!
