pinkydot: They just anonunce the Wireless charging for Z2 :)

"Wireless charging is an area with huge potential that’s exciting for both consumers and designers"

Just not exciting enough to have it built into the phone from the outset, apparently.  The charging plate does look rather nice, but I don't expect it will be cheap.

Me too. And when the dock is $75, why would I pay (probably much, much) more for the small convenience of not having to line my phone up with the magnets?

What is the stock levels like at Noel Leeming and Harvey Norman (not sure if HN stocks it even)? Keen to grab one during the Queen's Birthday sale.

Smartband is up for preorder on the Sony site. I got my own imported from the UK for cheaper and have been using it for about a week... It's pretty cool if you're into the fitness/life tracker stuff. Definitely the nicest looking of the lot!

Steve113: I just don't understand why this phone is so expensive in NZ!!
When Sony Canada is selling it on their website for $699CAD = $750NZD (with all three colours) and Sony AU is selling it for $759.00AUD = $820NZD.
Why is it soooo bloody expensive here!!!?

Even cheaper if you buy thru telstra in Oz... $672 http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/05/sony-xperia-z2-goes-on-sale-at-telstra-today/

Nice. Convert to NZD then get the AU GST refunded and that comes to about $650NZD. Sounds like a good deal.

Did exactly that. I thought about the LG G3 first but considering the price I am paying for the Z2 i ended up getting someone to purchase a Z2 from Telstra AU, will be claiming gst soon.

Today's battery life. Whelp can't link so take my word for it, 7 hours screen time. Mostly texting but playing around in some games too and web browsing because I was lazy getting out of bed this morning.

How is everyone finding there z2?

One comment I have had made to me many times is that the call quality isnt the best.  I'm thinking the microphone on it perhaps isn't great as people on the other end comment how quiet and static it sounds.  I also think the receiving sound isn't that clear also.

Very pleased with the battery life in particular, call volume is a bit low in my opinion. Not sure about the quality from the mic as no one has complained to me so far. There is an option to turn off noise cancellation during call, might try that if people complain about the voice quality. I suspect the noise cancellation algorithm could be too aggressive.

Just went and turned off the noise suppression too, and will see if that helps.

I agree Battery Life is amazing :)

Today I pulled the pin and ordered a black Z2. Should arrive in next few days - can't wait. It took me a long time to decide between flagships, in the end the Z2 won out with its bigger battery and great camera. The Z2 is also the closest to stock android. My last phone was a Nexus 5 which I loved, except for battery life.

I really wanted to like the HTC M8 ... but I couldn't look past its poor camera (HTC must be kicking themselves for sticking with the same camera - it will be costing them dearly).

And the S5. It just looks cheap and boring ... and touchwiz is still too much over stock android.

So ... my first question ... anyone using the Sony flip case? I don't want to add any bulk to an already large phone, but this looks like it is minimal bulk?

Yup using the Sony flip case, and its the first flip case I have owned to be honest as I never was a fan.  Works fine, doesn't really add any noticeable bulk in my opinion but has taken me a bit to get used to having to flip it around the back if I want to hold the phone up.

The little indented bits allow for the notification lights which is great, plus it folds back out of the way when you put on the magnetic charger.

Looks stylish too so over all I am happy with it.
