Replacing my S8+ screen was $530. The component cost of the panel is quite high.

For those in Chch I really adorable computers which is my favourite Chinese owned phone shop. They don't have the note 9 screen protectors in stock but have ordered then and they should be here in a few weeks. I was happy with the s8+ one they supplied do will do the same for the note. I think they charge$25 which includes the fitting which I find will stressful.

Does anybody know of cheap phone insurance? I will happily pay $10 a month to not worry about it. Spark and Vodafone offer it but 2 degrees does not.

Should be covered under your house and contents (Mine is) $250 excess. Not sure on separate places just for phones

Wow! I'd be asking that shop some serious questions. I had my cracked Note 8 screen replaced at Samsung in Albany with a genuine Note 8 screen for $456.50 (inc. gst and my $45 inspection fee). The front assembly kit was $315.86+gst, the Rework kit was $26.97+gst and there was $60+gst of labour. I imagine a note 9 screen might be a bit more than this, but surely not $700!

Yeah, it was the whole front assembly/glass/screen replacement. Here's what I did to my phone...

You are correct and I used household insurance to get it fixed. Excess was $50 but they get you in the end by raising your premiums (you don't have a no claims bonus any more) by $300 to $400. It was still less than the $530 PB tech quoted to fix it outright but not by much. As everyone in Christchurch already knows insurance companies suck.

Samsung always replace everything - glass, panel and new battery. I think the kit also includes back glass although they didn't replace that on mine sadly (I have a scratch on the back). The only people who do the glass only replacement are those shops in the malls that carefully pull off all the broken glass and glue new stuff on. Your warranty is void and you may well not be waterproof after that but it is a lot cheaper.

Look at it from the bright side, this means the N9 stock has arrived at PB Tech and they must be going through the process of shipping them out.

2degrees is releasing, got called at 1pm for pickup from Albany. Just setting it up now. Mine was instore order on Monday this week
