Why does the p30 non pro not get OIS on the main camera? Last years p20 did.

I think I would choose this as the zoom is not a biggy for me, I have pro camera gear and an rx100 for that.

The big one for me is the phone going nuts during video at night, Im hoping that will be sorted by a firmware

For me I dont notice PWM, I have an Asus notebook which runs about the same Mhz and I dont notice it, but its a lot more people than you would think do notice it and suffer, more than 1%.

As for the green Tint/hue, its in really high contrast areas in the low lights. Im wondering if its a few phones specific. And Im sure this is one Huawei can resolve.

How do you find the operating system, Im really not sure as its my first Huawei. So many people describe it as terrible, but why is it terrible? They say its a bad copy of iOS for Iphone.

What colour phone were you given Richard and how did you keep it under wraps for so long??

I thought this too, but its my understanding the standard p30 40mp Sensor does not have OIS, only the 3x optical zoom.

By the way, the Pro is more like 4.67x telephoto not 5x, I read that and thought some people might care.

Do you get the headphones and the watch with the standard P30? If so, come to think of it, If you are not worried about stabilisation, ie you use a reasonable shutter speed, its still better than a lot of $699 phones out there, plus you get the watch and possibly headphones. Its almost a no brainer.

What colour to get people?

I dont like the light colour one in person, it doesnt seem to change the colours when you tilt it like i thought it would. The Dark Green is quite nice. The Black is shiny and my least Fav colour now, I was going for black as its understated. I could just debrand it.

Yeah that's kind BS to not include the damn dongle, probably getting the Apple's USB C - Aux when picking up the phone from NL

I guess you could use the free Bluetooth headphones from Noel Leeming Deal or the free Hauwei Bluetooth Airbuds with the PB Tech deal.

Where did you get the figure 4.67x? Isn't the main lens 24mm and the telephoto 125mm?

Based on all your comments I think you are probably better off sticking with your RX100 as your lightweight option for taking photos and video. I think you will be disappointed with the P30 Pro once you start pixel peeping.

For a smartphone, the Huawei P30 Pro is a great camera but its overall IQ is going to lag behind a camera from the RX100 series.

In saying that, which RX100 do you own? If it is the earliest one maybe you would be better off upgrading that as there are a lot of improvements in the later models.

Personally, I'd love to buy the Mark V version but unfortunately, I don't have enough cash.

No dont get me wrong, Im trying to like this phone, Im just being honest and I think if others were too they would see its not all bells and whiltles, in fact more thorns than roses, but do are the Roses pretty enough to make up for the Roses?

no headphone jack (not even an adapter), 2017 non flagship 1080p esque screen (the s10 does look substantially better just in browsing), 30fps 4k and crippled night video shooting and lastly a noticeable in the hand weight, Emui which nobody seems to like, width and poorly designed edge system vs the galaxy which is MUCH narrower by sight and weighs 50 grams less.

For me, you are paying flagship prices for 3 things, fast battery charging (although other phones are close to the same speed), 5x OIS zoom, superior low light shooting, time of flight

Here are the camera differences and I do agree with a lot of what this sight says about the Pro not really being much of a pro;

P30

40MP (Wide Angle Lens, f/1.8)
16MP (Ultra Wide Angle Lens, f/2.2)
8MP (Telephoto, f/2.4, OIS)

P30 Pro

40MP (Wide Angle Lens, f/1.6, OIS)
20MP (Ultra Wide Angle Lens, f/2.2)
8MP (Telephoto, f/3.4, OIS)
Time-of-flight

Its a real tough one as the low light shooting is not to be sniffed at, nor is 5x OIS zoom in a phone, but given all its misgivings thats really what you have to suffer with to get these 2 standout feaures.

On a lighter note, do you think the watch and headphones will get another $500 in resale, because its hard to argue with its misgivings for $599
