512gb Pixel 6 Pro from Aussie has arrived 😁 happy to answer any questions anyone has .

Feels great so far.

So good to see. How are your first impressions and the size? I am using 5 now and on the fence between 6 and 6 Pro due to the size.

Do you find fingerprint scanner slow?
I think 5g is an issue so how are you making it work?
Any battery heating or screen issues?
Finally, what was the total cost?

Coming from a long heritage of big ass phones, the size feels quite normal to me. Im currently switching from Z Fold 3 to Pixel 6 Pro so it feels quite small in comparison!

Fingerprint scanner is  perfectly fine, as long as you dont just tap it and expect it to unlock. It works every time and seems just as reliable as other ones i have used.

No 5G, but i really dont care at the moment, not until 1 or 2 years down the line when 5g actually becomes properly available in NZ.

No issues so far in first few hours with heating or screen.

I am thoroughly impressed so far, it feels extremely polished and Apple-like in terms of the software and feel. Havent really had that feeling with an android before.

Total cost was 1650 for the 512GB phone  + nest Speaker from JB AU, and 170 to get them both to NZ via DHL.

This is after I linked the threads mentioning that 5G does not work.

So I guess anyone who buys from MA can go prove them wrong. They claim it should work.

Would be nice to buy it say 5G doesn't work and return it just to use it and see how it is.,, who know's maybe if you send it in for repair they get the 5G working?

Yeah won't hurt buying one and if 5G is not a goer you have the rights to return it under the FTA.

I suspect it won't work though. You would think the product managers would do some due diligence on products but it doesn't seem that way for the Pixel 6.

^ Oh oops, look at that, I dropped my phone and backed the car over it.

Can I get a Pixel 6 now?

I actually read a bit more on this

I could actually be looking at possibly a FTA breach because to me it looks like its a unsubstantiated claim. I.E: 5G should work on Pixel phones with 5G says MightyApe(paraphrasing from screenshot). Actual real world geekzone users on multiple carriers say no it doesn't work. MightyApe does not test their phones(or at least still haven't answered if they do or do not) so how can they back this claim up that 5G works without actually testing?

Additionally the ministry of finance has given me authorization to purchase one now if I really wanted to prove the point even more(thankfully with me being in Christchurch I have both Spark and VFNZ 5G towers all within walking distance).

I am up in arms if I really want to.

Do it they might even let you keep the phone and refund after you prove them wrong for good PR. Free pixel 6 lmao

The fact that they're currently false advertising and it needs to be clear that 5G does not work on the the pixel devices but they're advertising and claiming that it does. Getting that fixed would be great for both transparency sakes but also raise awareness that hey not every import is going to work completely and the average consumer only knows what's off the sale page and reviews but they don't cover everything.

IMO retailers should be testing their devices before selling. You only have to throw all 3 carriers over a few days to get a picture of what actually works and what doesn't. If I bought it myself that's exactly what I'd be doing so others don't have to find out the hard way or be very clueless as why a feature that was advertised isn't working (in this case 5G). That's what retailers who import phones should be doing.

This is going beyond the scope of what this threads meant to be but mighty ape has claimed that 5G works and we know that it doesn't but they don't want to hear it.

I found a guy selling it on Facebook market place and managed to buy it. He bought it from Google Au store and got it shipped. It came with receipt and its the pixel 6 and not the pro.

Incredibly I find it pretty big and heavy compared to my 5 that I currently use. I might wait for a case or dbrand wrap before I can start using.

If you are used to 5, I think the size will make a difference and even 6 is relatively tall and wide and heavy.

Just my observations so far without using.

FYI - that guy has another one left. He ordered a pro and waiting for it.

Sounds like contacting MightyApe and alerting them, so they're more transparent - is what's needed here.

Going to the FTA sounds like you want MightyApe to stop selling it, which would be a huge pain in the ass for those of us who've already ordered it and are awaiting shipment. I agree it's not ideal that they're not clear about this, but I personally don't want to go through the hassle of buying from Australia, nor purchase through someone even less reputable (like PI).

But I already have and am still engaged in conversation about this. They're not listening
