Linuxluver: Battery life on the HTC Sensation is interesting.
Today I unplugged the mains at about 7:30am. By 17:54 my battery was on 85%. I had looked at a couple of web sites briefly and sent / received a few txts. But otherwise it was just riding in my pocket.
The only other Android phone I've seen last that long in a similar way is the Vodafone 845...which yesterday went 24 hours and was still on 92%. Again, usage very light. Perhaps 4-5 mins in the 24 hours.
I should make it clear I usually kill a smartphone battery by 5pm, so having one still on 85% feels like a miracle.
NZtechfreak:
I'm not sure what magic HTC has done, but the standby time when the phone is idle and doing just background sync stuff is truly remarkable. Active use unfortunately drains the battery quite quickly for me, seems worse than the SGSII in that regards (making them roughly equal for my use probably).
EDIT: Oh, worth mentioning that with some effort truly stellar standby time can be achieved with the SGSII also - Brigg's at samsunggalaxysforums is getting 5 days of use when using it "just as a phone".
Foo: Keep up the excellent reporting on this phone! Really helpful and interesting.
From memory, battery life tends to improve and stabilise after a few weeks. I know I also got a boost when moving from Eclair to Froyo on my HTC Desire
NzBeagle: Here's hoping we might see something coming soon

ArtooDetoo: Been giving the video capabilities for the Sensation a tyre-kicking and I'm pleased. Actually I'm better than pleased, as it performs really well with online video (no, not those online videos) and especially over 3G which I expected to be poor.
I haven't figured out how to illustrate that though as I'd need to video the video, so to speak, which doesn't do the Sensation's performance justice since it's limited by the quality of my SGS, then its translation to YouTube which means transcoding and another loss of fidelity.
Maybe I need to borrow a high quality handycam to shoot the Sensation playing back, and upload the HD file to a download site for those who want a look. I'll see what I can do.
Meantime, my opinion is that you're unlikely to be disappointed with the Sensation's video capability over WiFi, 3G or playback from a downloaded HD file.
Flash played via the browser is the best I have experienced so far.
markenderwick: Hi All
so ive read through all these pages and other threads, im weighing up selling the iphone4 and getting a sensation. i have a recently renewed contract with Vodafone so im keen to buy the handset only.
the idea of importing another phone (prev HTC Desire) doesnt appeal to me too much as the last one with riddled with chinese keyboards etc.
Buying from an?XT store to retain a NZ warrenty is a definate bonus for me,
What are your thoughts? I live in Hamilton North so coverage is good, and have wifi at home / work etc.
is the 3g drop only noticable in rural type situations?
Cheers
Mark
