MurrayM: Has anyone managed to get the "Track My Mobile" function to work on www.samsungdive.com? That and all the other functions (Ring My Mobile, Call Logs, etc) don't seem to work.

I take that back. I just noticed that when I logged into samsungdive.com it had my phone number in the upper right corner without a country code. After changing it to an international format it all works really well!

Downloaded both NZ/AU maps to my SD, seems to work fine! Gives me the option for a 4.2 update, but when i hit it says product doesn't exist in store.

Not rooted, no market enabler, completely stock 2Degrees GSIII

I have version 3.6.0 on the phone currently but would like latest update. Any way to get it?

Why is it that Australia get their phones come with Navigon preinstalled but we get nothing? I actually sent an email last week to Samsung NZ asking why this is but they have not bothered to reply to me.

You don't need to root your phone to get Navigon. Kies running an Aussie IP will do it, or if you have an Australian SIM card that is active (and you can bear the data charge) you will also get it.
It became available to me last week when I was in Australia using an Optus SIM card on a non-rooted NZ 2 degrees phone.

Given that Navigon includes NZ maps I'd really love to know why Samsung doesn't make it available to New Zealanders. Maybe we should start a petition and give Samsung a wakeup call.

I emailed Samsung and this was their response:

"Your feedback is appreciated and has been passed to the relevant department to review. Unfortunately Navigon is not supported by Samsung New Zealand, and at this stage, Kies does not support the App store in New Zealand".

We seem to be second class citizens compared to Australia, they also have Quikflix preinstalled. Can only be a cost decision, I presume as Navigon is $80 on Play Store. +1 on the petition. Thanks for the tips regarding how to obtain Navigon. I guess a VPN set to show an Aussie IP would allow that workaround?

Rather odd this Navigon business, the Samsung Australia version wasn't showing in the Play Store for me previously, then I looked again a few days ago on the desktop version of the Store and there it was. No Market Enabler shennanigans or anything, just installed it directly...

Yeah it's extremely weird. It'll only let me install it on my Gmail account, but not my Google Apps domain account

I wish Google would allow apps to be transferred over to Google Apps accounts :( Really hate using my 3 year old Gmail account for all my older purchased apps

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

For those that want Navigon from the Apps Market (Aus), have you tried "MarketEnabler" ?

According to Tom's Hardware Guide:

"Simply put, MarketEnabler makes your phone pretend it's based in another country, so that you can download apps from the Android Market that are available only for select areas or telcos. The only problem? Due to the way this app works, it will only run properly on rooted devices (or gadgets that have been modified to remove any software limitations imposed by the manufacturer or the telco that furnished it)."

I was told when I was in Australia that there was a delay in getting it up on Samsung apps because the latest update was being tested. It came pre-installed on Australian SGS3's & updated soon after. I got used to it with my SGS2, which I purchased in Australia. Australia gets Navigon and Google Books by default - both of which I use. Had I stopped to think about what doesn't get onto NZ phones I wouldn't have bought my phone here. And I won't be buying another phone in NZ.

Not sure if this has been covered but just an update on the issue around the other caller not being able to hear you talking.

After further testing, I have concluded that my issue came down to user error. The way i was holding the phone, my little finger was covering the small mic hole on the bottom right side of the phone. Personally, i think the mic should be on the front left down the bottom of the phone to avoid this but i guess this wouldn't look as streamline.

Anyone having the issue of "Archiving emails" using the Gmail app through the phone, then finding that they're still unread / in inbox when you use Gmail via browser (I refreshed many times). Refreshing in the Gmail app seems to indicate that they've been archived correctly..

just wondering why many of you interested in Navigon? isn't it google maps already free and provides excellent navigation?

Navigon is offline, which means you can use it where there's no 3g available. Its worth pointing out though that Google maps will offer this soon though.
